Story
The air was as cold as ice when Aiden entered the large pasture, where the stallion herd stood silently. They did not even bother to try to graze, because the ground was covered in snow and the soil was wet and rather muddy.
"Hey buddy!", he yelled and Coffee lifted his head, looking at his two-legged friend. Aiden showed him the halter he carried and Coffee walked towards him.
"Good boy. Yes, you are a good boy indeed!"
30 minutes later, they were ready to get off to the cross country trail. Aiden rode bareback to increase his balance and profit from the warm back of his stallion. The bitless bridle was more of a decoration, he did not need something to pull at anymore when riding Coffee. All the years together made them trust each other very well.
This was basically the reason why Aiden registered them for the Australian Olympics this year. He knew Coffee would not disappoint him, he never did.
The path they used to use for training was covered in snow, fluffy white stuff that made a nice sound when the hooves touched it.
Aiden patted the horse's neck: "Let's rock this, a leanbh (my child)!", and clicked his tounge.
Coffee lifted his head and started to canter slowly and steadily.
The first few jumps were easy and not the type of challenge we will find in Australia, Aiden thought.
He turned to the right and they approached the frozen river, which ran through a meadow with a few trees on it.
Coffee jumped and when his legs touched the ground again, Aiden knew that this was going to be VERY interesting. The snow was thicker and there was a lot more then before. Coffee could not canter any longer and he started to trot with his legs lifted high.
"We better finish this somewhere safe, huh?"
