The red blood tasted like the worst rage of the Coyote, the feeling of devastation and defeated carried him to the den where, in the night before, his mate, Rhea, tried to convince him to stay , hopelessly, Alaric was an impulsive and ambitious wolf and once an idea had caught his mind he'd not let it go, not even his loved ones.
In that night he seemed convinced that he'd would win that war, that he'd provide a better future for his mate and his daughter. He was wrong.
The battle took another path, to disaster, he was lost, a defeated wolf about to get banished from his own lands, and the only wolf that he could run to in that moment was his kind mate. He knew that, even mad at him, she'd provide a warm reception for him, would support him through his failure. That's what he hoped, what he expected.
However, the male and bloody wolf that ran through the forest in the direction of his previous den soon realized a dark body laid in the den's entrance, almost lifeless, it's breathing was faint and almost gone. Alaric soon realized the body laying there was Rhea; his heart raced like a beating drum at it's fastest speed, the adrenaline already flowing in his body could make him faint anytime, but his urge to reach the female spoke louder. He ran at his fastest speed, reaching for the bloody female, laid on the ground.
"Rhea..." His voice was soundless amongst the woods, as if she was his voice, and she laid there almost lifeless.
"Oh, Alaric, you're here.." Her eyes slowly stretched open, showing some difficulty at the simple movement to open her eyes.
Alaric was speechless, he didn't believe his eyes at the single moment, his whole word was falling apart at his watch.
"Don't you fret, Alaric
I don't feel any pain
A little fall of rain
Can hardly hurt me now
You're here, that's all I need to know
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow."
"But you will live, 'Rhea - dear Gods above...
If I could close your wounds with words of love..."
"Just hold me now, and let it be.
Shelter me, comfort me..."

So many songs in this, its almost a musical itself.
I really loved how everything ended up though.
