Good news, then. Mudsdale's pre-evolution is a donkey, so those commenters are kinda wrong.

Yeah, I had so many people come and tell me I was wrong (and not just on dA), when I always think that Pokémon species should be left to interpretation. It's just like Cyndaquil is classified as a "rat" Pokémon, or how Mightyena has "hyena" in its name - this guy looks a lot like a mule to me, and either way I don't think that I post artwork for people to criticize my picture's comments, of all things

I always want a Horse that is based on a Clydesdale, to call a female Epona. T___T
Well, i think it should be a Clydesdale or a Shire Horse(worlds biggest Horse). O.o
I am SO happy to have Mudsdale, a really beautiful Horse! But... to be honest, i also wish to have a Donkey or okapi as pokemon. °xD

but could you make art of a trainer riding a wild mudsdale, i've been thinking over this new pokemon being rideable like stoutland and tauros in the trailer and wanted to see what it would look like if a trainer would try and tame a wild mudsdale by riding it

Pretty sure it's stated several times that it's a horse. And it even gets its name from Clydesdale horses (which are just as massive, BTW).

Thats not what peoples meant here. All Pokemon are based on some real life animals or things which are existing in reality like Mudsdale is based on a Clydesdale, Victreebel on a Pitcher Plant or Litwick on a Candle. Besides, a Pokemon cant been based on itself...

Long ears, "sad" look, arched snout, denser mane, thicker build... it's pretty clear to me that it's either a donkey, or a mule at most
