(Yeah, this version of Ulfric is entirely too up his own rear... it's a shame really. Makes me think of a character I actually rather like... but has such a single-minded view, so clouded by a mixture of pride, fear, and the desire to protect his people, that he practically played into enemy hands. Heck, he doesn't even realize that his actions were not only accounted for, but based as a hinge point in THEIR plan because they KNEW he was going to do it! And wanted him to! ... ... 'Ahem'. Unrelated rambling aside... yeah, this version of Ulfric blinds himself easily.)

My TvTropes sense is tingling. I feel like a Batman Gambit is at play here. XD

I was waiting for the third-time's-all hrm from Eorlund, maybe when he'd finished his armour for Ulfric and someone was fawning over it. "Amazing! This has to be your best work yet, Gray-Mane!" "Hrm."
And clearly nobody taught Erik how to pass someone a pair of scissors, or he'd know to present the axe hilt-first. *disapproving frown*
Hoo man, things are warming up now...and I do not look forward to hearing what Aela's got to say about all this. Not at all...*gazes at NEXT imploringly*

Wow, that is truly an interesting take on how Ulfric sees the Dragonborn. Making citizens reliant upon him instead of teaching them to take care of their own problems. Once again, very impressed with the writing!
Poor Shelob. And poor Erik, too. He's so young and naive!

I can't wait to see the armour!
Gotta say I can totally see Erik and Shelob fighting in a life or death struggle surrounded by the bodies of fallen comrades in a burning city.

It's all really nice and stuff, but if Shelob's the Harbringer, would Eorlund stand against him so eagerly?

1) he's been exposed as a werewolf
2) Eorlund's brother is the staunchest Stormcloak supporter in Whiterun, and Eorlund himself expresses sympathy toward the rebel cause.

1) Officially, yes. But during the scene when Eorlund enters the Underforge with Wuuthrad, he seems to know about everything.

Dammit Irileth, what does- actually he pays you for precisely that, never mind.

Eorlund? Wearing a shirt? Preposterous! You cannot bind such manliness with mere wool and cloth!
I bet Ulfric's going to be bringing two swords with his new armor: steel for men, and silver for monsters. Or some crap like that I dunno I just wanted to make a Witcher reference.

After that glorious artwork of Tullius for that TES card game, he must have wanted to look glorious himself (unless he also has a glorious card in that game).

You mean Legends? I don't know much about it to be honest. Just that apparently it's like Hearthstone with TES.

Wow, a lot happens in this episode! I'm getting an interesting perspective here. I have only played the Stormcloak storyline, so I'm getting a lot of how the Imperial side sees things here.

If Aela doesn't insist on fighting at Shelob's side, I will be greatly surprised. Fighting the Stormcloaks will be nothing compared to arguing with his wife because he loves her.

Yeah. It's like that old saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman who's been denied the right to fight rebels at her husband's side."
...I may have paraphrased a little.

Poor Erik, caught in the middle.
Eh, I dunno, there. 'I belong to Skyrim' connotes service to Skyrim. "Skyrim belongs to me" connotes ownership of Skyrim. If even in the jerky storyline when he's facing death (yeah, Sacking Windhelm, I don't see him getting out of that alive) he says what he's doing is for the betterment of his home, i think you can trust he really believes that.

I'm no fan of Ulfric, but I agree that this just means what he says: he says that he belongs and serves Skyrim. He could have said "It needs me!" or something of the sort at that moment, but this is as humble as it gets.

He's in way over his head, that's for sure.
Oh, he definitely believes that what he's doing is for the good of his homeland. It's just a matter of what that actually entails and how he goes about it (especially for the purposes of this story arc).
