This mushroom is purple... PURPLE!... I know! Messed up right? But I love it. Never seen a purple one before. Go figure...Please Enjoy...

those are bacteria shrooms. dont eat ! blue is good, purple is a natural pesticide. eat enough of those and you go blind or die.

last year i saw my first purples as well.
this is a variety of Cortinarius...and not a FRIENDLY one either.

Yes they do. I have to go buy a mushroom book so I can know what the mushrooms I'm finding are called.

a couple great ones? The Audubon Society Field Guide to Mushrooms (eBay sells them as does Amazon for pretty cheap sometimes)...Another good one, if you have a lot of Oak trees? Macro Fungi Associated With Oaks of Eastern North America (not sure what area you're in but this works well even in Central US)
One I just got that's been pretty good but not as handy for info as the Audubon is The Pocket Guide to Mushrooms by Jean-Marie Polese
I highly suggest books with photos...NOT drawings!
