I did it wrong.
Of everything I could have done, I did it in the worst way. A text message, of all things.

In my defense, I wasn't ready. I wanted to wait, a few more months. At least until I had the ring. I even told you that I would tell you later, but you wouldn't leave me alone. You just kept pestering me. You made me ask.

Still it was the wrong way.

No excuses.

I should have done something more. I should have done it at the mall. We were always at the mall. I should have jumped up on one of the tables in the food court. "Pardon me for a moment, everyone, but I have something to say." Make sure everyone there saw it.

Not good enough.

I should have done it at the book store. What a better way to start our fantasy then surrounded by thousands of other fantasies. I would have bribed someone to let me use the PA system. Again everyone would have to know.

Still not cutting it

I could have hired a plane. No.

Sports game? You hate sports.

Mount Everest? Am I trying to kill us?

I guess I could have just asked you. Waited for a good moment, get down on my knee, pop.
