Description In 1998, two CGI movies about anthropomorphic insects came out, called "A Bug's Life" and "Antz," both of which contain a romantic subplot where a male worker ant earns the affection of the ant princess. Now, I was in elementary school when I watched those movies. I knew a lot of animal facts, and 'worker ants are female' was, like, the most basic fact about ants. It was therefore completely obvious to my 10-year-old self that the creators of the movie had made the protagonists of these movies male for the sole purpose of putting in their silly romantic subplot.

When I was older, a different thought presented itself: an anthropomorphic worker ant does not actually have to be male to have feelings for the 'ant princess' or for those feelings to be returned. This is something I keep remembering for some reason, so I whipped out my rusty digital art skills and created this.
