What did I accomplish today?My nose buried in a book all day.
But not the one it should have been,
I'm too distracted...
I remember that day
I finally knew what I wanted
I woke with a smile, my body at peace
It couldn't have been clearer,
More real, or more passionate
"Home is where the heart is"
My heart is at home
I left it there for someone else
So far from me now
It's where I long to be on a day like today.
I remember that day
How you looked when I drove away
You were smiling and waving
Yet somehow you seemed sad
Empty and small, not knowing
When we would see each other next.
At times I am envious
You're too busy to have a day like this
Luckier than I am.
Because you aren't constantly reminded
That your heart isn't at home?
I remember that day
We were finally honest
After waiting so long
I couldn't have been more content,
More tired and yet
I felt more awake than I had in months.
