Description The handsome fella here is the first mutant for my Mordheim's Possessed gang. It may not be so obvious that he follows Nurgle, because this pin head isn't bloated and colored with silly greens, browns and yellows. I wanted the style to be more realistic and "pre-mutation" and leave the most grotesque mutations and such for the daemon-kin and the actual possessed ones. The main idea is that the mutant is agile and leaper kind of skulker, which bounces effortlessly from structure to structure and scales vertical walls without delay. So I'll be picking some style-wise skills for him as he gains more experience in the game. I'm sure some of you might notice where I've borrowed some visual and fluff ideas.

Oh, and those weird grey spots on the base are not painted, they're just reflections on the gloss varnish (I use white photoshoot tent).

Absolutely fantastic!!!
Not only a wonderful conversion, but that skin-tone... Oh man I love it so much!

Great work

Thanks! I've actually noticed afterwards that it's rather inconvenient conversion for Mordheim. Single hand weapon just isn't so useful.

Awesome work! how did you achieve the translucent vein effect on this back/shoulder?

Thanks! I just mixed some of the same paint I used to paint the skin to the vein color to get the correct color. Then I just very carefully painted the veins with small brush and added more vein color (=green) to the paint mix when I painted the parts where veins are more visible/thicker. Lastly I gently glazed the surface with highly diluted skin color to "tie" the veins and skin to together.

But I think the most crucial thing is to mix some skin color to the vein color you want to use, because that makes the veins look translucent when painted on the skin. If you just painted the veins with pure green or other bright color, it would just look like some weird war paint.

That would be nice. If I first manage to finish my nauseous retinue, that is

Thank you, I always try to do something unique and not just that regular "just-as-the-box-says" stuff.

I checked it out, but I doubt is it ok to put GW's and other manufacturers' minis in the sculpture section, since I haven't sculpted them myself.

I haven't had any problems. Obviously if a GW lawyer tells me otherwise I'll move them, but you're not claiming to have sculpted or designed them, so I can't see there'd be any comeback.

Thanks, L4D actually have some pretty nice ideas even though I haven't played it yet. I had to check out the Jockey in L4D wiki and it was rather amusing how close the ideas were. And the whole wiki site was quite interesting read.

You are not dumb, there is no category for miniatures.
By the way this is a great miniature! Superb paint job, love the translucency of the flesh, with veins showing through. Much conversion work?

SirJarva In reply to theoggster [2011-02-25 08:29:33 +0000 UTC]

Not really. The head and weapon implant were only modifications I made, plus I had to get rid of that typical GW ghoul's groin hair somehow (I didn't like the idea of mutant scurrying around naked...), so I just simply put a rope around his waist and sculpted the "ex-hair's" upper part around it. The feet were the biggest problem since they were originally posed on flat ground and had very small part touching ground, so the interesting part came up when the sewer base I made was cylindrical. As a conclusion, I put some moss under the feet (and some other places to balance the look), which also helped to hide the pinning job.
