To celebrate Duke Nukem Forever that was just released here in Europe (and which is pretty good game despite of it's flaws in my opinion), it's time for more Duke Nukem fanart!

Last time I made Duke fanart based on the very first Duke Nukem- game from 1991 (this picture [link] ), this time here's fanart based on it's sequel, Duke Nukem II.

Duke Nukem II was released for ms-dos running computers in 1993 and was made by Apogee (3D Realms nowadays) again. The game itself is a sidescroller just like it's predecessor. From many parts it's just like Duke 1, but many things have been improved and there's new features.
Some of them were better graphics and sounds and kick-ass music made by Bobby Prince himself (who also made music for many other games of both Apogee/3D Realms and id Software, like Commander Keen, Bio Menace, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1 and 2, and a part of the musics of Rise of the Triad and Duke Nukem 3D). There even are two tracks that sound like Megadeth's songs "Angry Again" and "Skin O' My Teeth" (no wonder Megadeth made their own cover of Duke Nukem 3D's theme later on).
We also heard Duke's voice in this game, as in it's intro video there's a scene Duke Nukem at a shooting range and then says "I'M BACK." This line wasn't spoken by John St. John though, it was the game's beta-tester Joe Siegler.

The game still didn't have violence, sexual themes or one-liners just like it's sequel Duke 3D, but the game's atmosphere was darker, Duke Nukem looked now more like what he looks nowadays, and his nowadays well-known attitude is there in the cuts-scenes, though not so clearly. Also for the first time Duke was fighting against aliens.

This game itself was my most favorite game when I was a kid and I played it all the time. Even today it's one of the best side-scrollers that I have played, at least one of the best side-scrollers for PC alongside it's predecessor Duke Nukem 1, Commander Keen episodes 4-5-6 and Jazz Jackrabbit 1 and 2.

So since I now made this picture based on Duke Nukem II, it's appropiate to make my next Duke Nukem- fanart based on the legendary Duke Nukem 3D. But we'll see when I'm going to do that one. I hope you liked this picture
