There is so much that can be said about this, idek.So, the idea of Sherlock being FTM (female-to-male transgendered) first came to me from a piece by ~Daakota ([link] ), and I really couldn't shake it.
So, months later, here is this.
There is a lot of genderbending going on in this fandom, drawing the male characters as females, and I thought... Well, what if he's already genderbent?

I am just in love with this, something about the colors and shapes really appeals to me, and now I've fallen in love with the idea of FTM Sherlock

Very nice. I've read that fic!!! Though it could use fan art, and lo and behold!! One critique though, just a little one. What with Cumberbatch's long face and slanted eyes, the blue makes him look a bit like a Na'vi. It's not really a bad thing, or something that needs fixing or anything, just thought it was a little funny.*G*

and yeah the navi thing has been pointed out a dozen times already. it was not my intention when I drew it, I was simply working with contrasting colour palettes.

It's really very well done, without Sherlock(Sophie) just suddenly waking up and deciding to become a man like some fics are wont to do. Most of his other fics are really well written, too. I also reccomend his Sherlock/Addams Family Xovers (I was very skeptical, but their actually serious, not crack *G*) and his Werewolf!John fi, too.

There are not many pieces I have found so far that have actually made it look like the faces of the actors (such as Cumberbatch's long face). This is a very interesting pieces with comparison of how the characters "scars" have made them who they are. Great work.

Sherlock looks so feline! Great job. I can't imagine a masculine actor such as Cumberbatch as genderbent but I like the idea. Blue Sherlock is a little bit Avatarish.

In my narrow mind they appear mostly androgynous, but I suppose I might be wrong.

To be honest, I find Cumberbatch far more androgynous than many transmen.
I wouldn't call it overcompensating, but many transmen are very masculine.

I've been thinking about it, and I would have no problem to believe it if Cumberbatch was cast as an FTM character, if it wasn't for his incredible baritone voice! Because that's something that's unfortunately impossible to achieve with hormones and speech therapy. Sure, the voice will fall, but not that low.

no, no offence taken. I just think it's important to understand that there is a wide range of different expressions and individuals within all groups. Transmen can be super masculine, but they can of course also be femme and camp, just like any other man. Same goes for transwomen, not everyone is super effeminate, some are butch lesbians.

yeah I'm aware it's a bit.. odd. but I've always been very into gender issues and trans matters, so I suppose it comes quite naturally for me, I can very easily see him as ftm.

Their expressions are incredible... It's so... THEM.
The concept of Sherlock being a FtM, is simply fascinating. I can't explain in words how much I love this thought. And I'm slightly surprised, now that the idea has intruded into my brain and is making itself at home up there, that there isn't a lot of fanfiction or fanart about this concept. It feels almost like it's canon.

I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of him being FtM, since... I'm FtM myself... and also have been a Sherlock Holmes fan for a long time. I mean...his voice is far too low, even for a FtM with lots of voice training, even if they had a low voice to begin with.
However, I'm not here to judge that really. Your style is wonderful and I enjoy that aspect. I Love John's expression and I enjoy the colours you used as well.
I will say, though, Sherlock's scars are in the wrong place, they are a little to low. You need to bring them up to the bottom curve of where you made the line for his pectoral. Also it looks like they wrap around his sides, which isn't what those type. scars would do Just a bit of friendly advice :3

I don't think his deep voice precludes Sherlock from being a man with trans history at all. There are many men who are trans with deep voices.

Yes, his voice is one of the things I haven't really been able to... you know, make work in this concept.
thank you for pointing it out about the scars. I did spend quite some time researching it, but in the end the placement and shape was almost different in every picture. So I suppose I just drew them in and hoped for it to work, especially since both his and John's scars are rather stylized.

I'm not offended. I was just trying to offer some help. The incision usually is done right under where the breasts would have been. So in a way if they were there, the scars would have been covered. So if you think about it like that it should help if you do another one.

Ok, so this is bloody fantastic. I particularly like the idea of this version of Sherlock being ftm because Gatiss and Moffat have taken so much time in emphasising how much he lives within the landscape of his mind and if his physical body didn't accurately represent his internal gender I can see him taking the surgery/hormone treatment step... yes it's very believeable. And very nicely done.
That aside I kind of just went 'Psssh hawt'and admired the pretty colours. Shallowness ftw!
