Lyra was born in the waning days of the war. Her parents, unable to flee being heavily pregnant and then having a newborn child at the time, gave her a Parliamentarian name and raised her under in a Parliament colony her whole life. She learned nothing of magic, and was raised under the Parliament's culture. Her father took on a job as a grunt guard in the Clubs constabulary, and she grew up with a heavy military presence in her life. She was always treated poorly by the neighbors, though she didn't understand it for much of her life. As she entered her teen years, she began to understand her reality as a lower-class citizen in the Parliament's society, and thought it unfair. She began to explore the workhouses, the railyards, and the slums, and realized how terrible the situation was for mages. So when she saw a mage boy failing to hide his abilities in public, stealing food and dodging guards, she followed him into the woods and agreed to join them. She stole a Club uniform and ran off with them, hoping to make a difference, and learn about her own innate abilities.

Lyra was the third official party member I made for PoH, and was going to be the last official one. I've always thought of PoH as a game, in classic jrpg style with a 4 member party, but the fourth member bounced around a lot. Sometimes it was a water-based siphoner, as Parker ended up being, and sometimes was going to be a pc custom character, allowing the player to choose their element, fighting style, magical culture, and so on. But Lyra (or Elaine as she was called before a week ago) was still there through the changes.
