It seems that Ignorance saw this neat species online called Vlarrians, created by and decided to cosplay as one.As a (former) demon possessing a human body, Ignorance has full physical control over the body she shares with Fane, allowing her to shapeshift into any form she wishes, although she can't cause new parts to appear or disappear, so Fane's arms have to be made out of hair.
