Love the boldness of this, the intricacy of the designs: the bullseyes make me look for eyes within the piece, and I find them amongst the checkered tentacles and snake-like twistings. The theme is loud and clear, yet her expression is one almost of paralysis.

Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you
It is nice to here when someone enjoys viewing something I have done and finds something to stop and ponder about or in it.

Not a problem. I'm not really a visual artist so I don't have much to share. I did review a lot of art recently on my blog, though - visited a few art galleries and wrote on (and linked to) the various works: "First Friday in Philadelphia"

Thank you! I wish my ex-girlfriend could hear that, given that all I got hit with is "I talk too much."

In any case, have subscribed to your work, will keep up - I did see "aspiration" and thought it very nice, but I haven't commented yet.

Ooh, something I can share, just realized: my favorite photographer is Shannon Doubleday, she chronicles the ordinary and its decay - i.e. [link]

That whole site linked above, existention.org, is her work.

Very nice, the face in the bottom corner breaks the patterns and as such adds character to your drawing. Great work

I love how there are levels of depth in the detail even though it's two-tone. The blank space seems to balance the intricacy for me, so my eye doesn't strain or get lost going through the top of the composition. The blank white does lend it a commercial feel, in some ways, like there's a place for a product slogan.. makes me think fairy hair or snakes-in-the head. The comercial aspect is minor, negligible, a twisted interpretation. definitely doesn't feel that way overall ... anyway, I prefer the BW version, too.

Did you grow up on a funky farm?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DrStrangebob In reply to sis [2005-04-30 20:52:44 +0000 UTC]

I don't know how funky it was but it was pretty cool. I could wander through pastures down to the stream that ran nearby.

An old grain bin that was blown over by a tornado became a makeshift rocket that transported my sisters, friends and myself to unknown universes, always back by dinner. Clod fights in the dirt fields after a fresh plowing were the handgrenades of childhood combat, and peaceful walks through the shelterbelts to pick some almost ripe mullberries were the purple treasures of those days.

Bicycle races to outrun hungry horseflies, chipping off a corner of a saltlick to suck on, (yuck) and fortresses of straw, caverns in the dirt patch behind the house, dipping sheep, sheering-time, milking cows, feeding chickens.

Wow that was a universe ago in itself.

It was nice.

I grew up like that too, but in a more wooded area with lots of bikers and hippies

seems like anothe life time, sometimes, when I look back and think about it.
