Stock Car running down the straight away and rounding the bend with the crowd cheering them on. Stock car racing is a form of automobile racing run on oval tracks courses measuring approximately 0.25 to 2.66 miles long (0.4 to 4,3 KM0). The first stock races required that the cars be stock unmodified models from the manufactures. That ended in 1966 when modified stock cars were introduced. The first stock car races were held in Daytona Florida on Feburary 15,1948. Now days the cars are heavily modified for racing. Stock cars average between 140mph to 180mph. This painting is based upon several source photos and was painted using Corel Painter on a computer attached to a graphics pad with a stylus. I've had this painting in one form or another for a while but it was unfinished so, I cleaned it up and submitted it. I actually have a more interesting race painting in the works which I will submit at some point in the future.Tap twice to see the detail.
