Randall Smiley is the leader of the Pendulum faction as well as skillful duelist with the pendulum summon method.

Many don’t know much about his background. Rumors have it before he became the leader of the pendulum faction, he was a Trapeze Artist in his family owned circus dubbed “Mr. Smiley’s Circus”.

His dream was to captivate his audiences by displaying death defying stunts and to bring joyful entertainment to the denizens of DM City.

As dueling became popular among the younger audiences, Randall wanted to incorporate dueling into his acts.

It took time and money, but it was worth the wait as Randall’s popularity skyrocketed as he uses his “AcroTainer” monsters not only in duels but as part of their show.

However, fame would not last forever, as the Brink incident shatter the work and progress he has made for himself.

After the Brink incident, his family, friends and his family’s circus were gone. As the factions rose to power and started to fight against each other, Randall wanted to calm tensions and came before the other factions to compromise a peace treaty.

However, the factions mocked him and forced him to duel just to survive. For weeks on end, he had to endure senseless battles; his dueling spirit held strong but his entertainment philosophy was shattered. After escaping from a DMCS prison, he scurried off to lands north east, luckily avoiding danger along the journey.

All the happiness and joy that once filled Randall’s soul has turned bitter and cold. As he walked through a forest one stormy, he came across a structure that he has not seen in a very long time.

His old family circus, though tattered and in a state of decay, stood before him reminding him of his past. He made his way into the tent in hopes to find family and friends. However, as he enters the tent, the inside looked worst.

Benches rotting with mold, debris scattered around the floor, the tent’s fabric torn and tattered and the vibrant colors that brought joy to many audiences now worn out and dull from exposure to the elements.

The deplorable conditions filled Randall’s heart with sorrow, causing him to collapse to the floor. Choking on repressed tears, he cried to himself unable to hold back the tears.

Suddenly a gust of wind blew causing a loose hanging paper to lose its grip. It danced in the air with the wind and gently landed in front of Randall.

He noticed the paper and picked it up. It was a poster with him and his family and friends back during their glory days.

Upon looking at the poster, Randall’s sadness turned to anger. It was on that day he vowed that he will bring back the entertainment that his family’s circus had championed in the past and use pendulum summoning to rid DM City of the other factions.

Since then, Randall has been aggressively attacking other faction members whether they were ritual, fusion, synchro, xyz, or link. His dueling prowess has become so formidable that other faction members have given him the title “The Pendulum Man” for his merciless dueling.

What once brought joy was now a devastating force that left duelists utterly defeated. Has time passed, he gained a following creating the pendulum faction, notorious for their “entertainment” in duels.

If you hear the circus music playing in the area, beware for the Pendulum Man is hunting for duelists and is coming for you.
