Steban and Martin strike again!
uff, this piece was a true challenge to make, I must admit! It took me more than 4 days to finish it
Just too many details. And the worst of all: I'm horrible at drawing human-made constructions. I fail perspective sooo very hard!
but one thing is true, I had fun doing this!
I tried to make the lights feel like a shaded and fresh place, but not lose that western feeling. It came out... Different than I was expecting, as it usually does
I'm still trying to figure out a different design for Steban. I've already tried all kinds of variations possible, believe me, even making his muzzle lighter and all, but I just cannot get it right! No matter what I do, Steban never looks like himself with another color scheme :/
But no artist likes to get comments like "oh he reminds me of *insert another person's character here*". We all like to give our creations an unique feeling, and we cannot admit this kind of comment to go even near them. And as you might already know, "Steban looks like Charlie". Even though they are the complete opposite of each other. So, if you guys happen to have a good idea for his design, please, do share! I'd be very grateful!
Thank you very much for all the support my friends, you have no idea how much it means to me. Thank you all for the amazing 1,337 faves on "Until Forever Comes" (I was surprised about how cathy the drawing's idea was for some of my watchers!), it was such a magic surprise for me when I saw it!

I would love 2 continue reading it! also I love your characters they have such personality (esp Racher - cuz he sounds like my name! lol that's a little sad of me - o can I just say? WOLPHY is - ADORABLE! u should work for Disney as you really have grasped that style! I mean the character on the right really reminds me of Charlie from "all dogs go to heaven" brilliant job! =^_^=

I have to admit Steban did remind me a lot of Charlie Barkin when I first saw a pic of him (it was the one with him running with Martin). However, it wasnt his design so much as his facial expression. I dont know anything about the dog (havent read the story yet) but just that one look he was giving. It made me think of Charlie's personality.
Really, I think Steban's design is awesome. He looks exactly like a rough and tumble cowdog. (If you werent going for that, then sorry).

This is awesome and you're so right in that each character that is made is not the same as another, in personality in a story they might be but it's not entirely true though. I hope you don't mind but I was naming a wolf character of mine and I was meant to call him Stevan but I accidently put Steban instead and it was when I was writing so I couldn't really change it so I hope you don't mind...

This is so fucking AWESOME!! This has that really good western feeling while maintaining some kind of strangeness in the air like something out of a dream.

I feel your pain on the building design! I'm getting really frustrated with my architecture fails. X.X' I'll report back on Steban when I get a good idea! Believe me, I HATE that when someone goes, "OH I know that character!!" TT^TT But it's an original character!!! Aka: Yume, ABOUT A THOUSAND TIMESSSS!!!! I'm going to remod her soon.

Honestly, before you mentioned it in your comments I wasn't thinking of Charlie for All Dogs go to Heaven. I had to Google it and only then did I notice a similarity. Maybe were I more of an All Dogs go to Heaven fan I would've noticed it sooner? *shrugs* don't know.
I'm no artist but I am a dog lover so based on that my advice is, if you want them to be different change the breed. Charlie is very clearly a German Shepherd and unfortunately there is very little color variation in the German Shepherd breed: Black & Brown, all black, or all white. Since Steban obviously has Shepherd in him and in the Black & Brown coat pattern it is always dark on top gradually getting lighter and brown on the belly and legs you'll probably never escape Steban resembling Charlie.
Try a Shiloh Shepherd, Belgian shepherd, or Anatolian shepherd for size if you want something similar but different in coat. Good Luck! Hope that was a little helpful!
