okami fanart that I did using my watercolor pencils.
Cleaned this up the best I could on photoshop. I think the quality isn't actually that bad. My dad took a photo using his heavy-duty camera.
Drew this on some huge 14'' x 17'' sketchpad that I never had use for before. I love how it came out. For once I had to learn to sketch lightly.
I had no idea how to draw bamboo so I had to stare at some old azn guy's bamboo calligraphy for beginners vid on youtube LOL

And I think my initial motivation towards this was between using the ultra-fun pencils again and asian clouds >.> yea I saw some other fanarts with clouds like this and all of a sudden really wanted to try it.

So yea this is going up on my room wall

I know I'm gonna get a slap for this, but who is Okami ?
I've seen glimpses on the internet some times and know that he/she is some sort of God,
It looked fun to draw

yup, a sun goddess. but Okami I think is more specific to the name of the video game, while the actual name of the god/character is Amaterasu. It is a very beautiful game in japanese calligraphy style, and I have it for wii. You make different shapes and strokes on the screen to produce different actions and effects.

thanks so much ^^ when I was drawing the background, for a while I stared at the open spots trying to see if I needed to fill up the spaces with stuff. But rly they were better off empty.

thanks! I feel like I need to do more traditional works because once I recently tried it again I thought it was so much fun lol. I hadn't colored something in ages, and this is such an easy medium to work with.

Kawaii!! I LOVE Okami, such a great game !

And yeah, Ammy is indeed a girl But if you noticed, in the game all the other gods you get the powers from they refer to her as, 'Mother to us all,' so I always thought that she was a girl

Thinking about it, wasn't Shiranui (old ammy) a male wolf? O.o

lol I know, I think the game lets u believe what u want about the gender because I read all over the manual and they avoided saying he/she.
But everyone else kept declaring that ammy was a girl. I think because the original legend/history or watever of amaterasu was a goddess.

they should realy make it clearer next time ! :L yeah thinking about it dident some of the charecters refer to her as The Great Mother Okami Amaterasu ?

hmmmm I actually don't recall but I wouldn't be surprised if that was mentioned somewhere. It's funny cuz after everyone insisted that ammy was female I looked on her info in the manual. They completely avoid he/she and say Amaterasu every sentence instead.
And yea I'm a bit spazztic as an artist LOL when I get started on the coloring and stuff, I can't keep myself from finishing everything else.
