Description The Monstrosity Pokémon
"The fumes surrounding TIGAMERA's body make any vegetation wilt in seconds. Said to be an omen of calamity, anyone it poisons will be left unable to move, powerless to stop this cruel Pokémon devouring them alive."
"Its three heads have a savage intellect and can deliver venomous bites in three directions at once. It often develops a taste for human flesh, so the best advice when it appears near civilization is to leave immediately."

Type: Dark/Poison
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 487.2 lbs
Ability: Carnivorous* (Merciless)
Evolution: SATUE  --> Level 22 --> DUARKHOR --> Level 48 --> TIGAMERA
Egg Groups: Field/Monster

Basis: The nue (a tiger-legged, dog-bodied, snake-tailed, and monkey-headed yokai that brings misfortune) crossed with the Greek Chimera, Orthrus (a Greek two-headed dog monster with a snake for a tail), and a manticore. Specific design elements are taken from saber-toothed cats, mandrills, vine snakes, oni masks, and traditional East-Asian artwork.
Name Origin: TIGA (three in Indonesian) + ChiMERA

Moves Learned:
Same as SATUE and DUARKHOR, with added starting/relearnable moves Toxic Terrain** and Foul Play.
Notable Other Moves: Same as SATUE and DUARKHOR. A notable new TM is U-Turn; a notable new tutor move is Throat Chop.

Base Stats:
HP: 90
Attack: 140
Defense: 90
Sp.Atk: 90
Sp.Def: 90
Speed: 100
TOTAL: 600

Carnivorous: Restores 1/4 of the user's maximum health upon KO-ing an opponent.

** Poison Darts
Category: Physical
Type: Poison
Power: 25
PP: 30
Accuracy: 100%
The user flings a shower of poisoned needles at its opponent two to five times in a row. Each strike may poison the target. (Compare: Bullet Seed.)
NOTE: Each hit from this move has a 33% chance of Poisoning the foe. This effect does not apply if the foe is already Poisoned.

** Toxic Terrain
Category: Status
Type: Poison
Power: N/A
PP: 10
Accuracy: N/A
The user turns the ground under everyone's feet to poisonous sludge for five turns. This poisons Pokémon on the ground every turn.

NOTE: When Toxic Terrain is in effect:
  • Grounded Pokémon are poisoned at the end of each turn unless they are currently affected by another status (if the status wears off, the poison takes its place). This does not apply to either Poison-types or a Pokémon with an ability that sets Toxic Terrain, which heal 1/8th of their HP during each turn. The poisoned status will remain after the Toxic Terrain effect stops. Steel-types will not be affected, but Flying-type or levitating Pokémon will be.
  • Poison-type moves used by affected Pokémon are boosted by 50% (regardless of whether the target of the move is affected by Toxic Terrain).
  • Grass-type moves have their power halved if used against affected Pokémon (regardless of whether the user of the move is affected by Toxic Terrain).
  • Water- and Flying-type moves will have a 20% chance of poisoning the target on top of any existing secondary effect (regardless of whether the user of the move is affected by Toxic Terrain).
  • Nature Power becomes Sludge Bomb.
  • Secret Power uses the animation of Poison Sting and may poison the target.
  • Camouflage causes the user to become Poison-type.

3/20/19 EDIT: Adjusted the front saber-teeth so they now look genuinely dangerous, and fixed up the position of the visible shoulder so the body looks and flows better.
4/10/19 EDIT: New tail, yay! The old one looked too thin and insignificant, so I changed it to something genuinely imposing. The pointed tip is also extended and curved upward now to look like a scorpion stinger, and the fangs are colored differently. So one of my favorite designs in Sundo now truly has three scary heads to eat you with. Have fun!

10/9/20 EDIT: New design!

And finally, Tigamera's redo! This one was relatively straightforward - all I needed to do was simplify much of the features, update the posture and proportions to look a bit more balanced, and trim the anatomy that wasn't needed. The wings in particular are now extensions of the poison cloud a la Mega Absol's wing-like fur tufts - not useful for flight, but just there to look cool. I also fixed up the color scheme so it's now simpler, and instead of adding an extra color, I changed one - the orange is now red, similar to how some canon three-stage Pokémon retain a consistent color scheme in the first two stages, and then get a different one in the final form. I think it helps make this design look even EDGIER than before and also distinguishes it even more from Duarkhor, if the two heads weren't enough already lol. This is one of my favorite new designs yet! I might have to redesign the Comaxy line soon as well - my monstrous murderbeast shouldn't be the only pseudo-legend who gets to look this damn good...

A little later than usual, but he's finally here! Stalking from the shadows, out for your blood, it's the second pseudo-legendary and final non-legendary fakemon of the Sundo region, Tigamera! Rawr!

Half of the reason why I took longer than expected with posting this, the other half being IRL things of course, was that I had a prior version of this bad boy already completed, up to and including shading, but something about it just really bugged me for a while. The pose was kinda bland, the color scheme a bit all over the place and excessive, the concept not being exploited to its full potential... who knows? In any case I felt it needed a do-over, and I finally got an idea I liked and decided to redraw it only yesterday. I'm probably not the first designer to combine a nue with a chimera, nor am I the first to imagine a Dark/Poison manticore/chimera mix - and unfortunately the first linked design also gives the final stage two heads at the front - but I'm sure enough differences exist to make my design stand out on its own, especially the smoke cloud manes and horned mask-like faces. If I've still accidentally plagiarized, please let me know ASAP!

Anyway, it always was my intent to base the pseudo-legend that'd ultimately become Tigamera off a mix of manticore and chimera, the latter having contributed to the name as well; the back legs look somewhat goat-like now, the frontmost heads have horns like those of a goat (albeit asymmetrical for each head), and his head and ears are now more lion-like which led to them being based more on baboons than anything else (hence the mandrill-like color patches on the face). The fins on the shoulders have become fully-fledged wings like woodcut dragons, as some depictions of both the nue and the chimera have wings, and in some accounts the nue can actually fly albeit on a storm cloud. In fact there's a lot of comparisons between the nue and the chimera in particular because both have the body of a big cat and a snake for a tail, fangs and all, as well as being omens of disaster and exhibiting dangerous powers. The Chimera of Classical myth being able to breathe fire and being associated with volcanoes explains the Fire-type moves that this line can learn via TM, while the Nue being connected to storms was justification for slapping Thunder Wave and Wild Charge onto them as well. Overall though the emphasis is on the unnatural, frightening appearance of both monsters as well as the blight they brought upon their respective regions. So Tigamera is a scaryass multi-headed chthonic horror, and neither I nor he himself would have it any other way!

And here's the original version, if you want to cringe at its substandard quality: sta.sh/01q52lgmfo6c

Like Andralaxy before him, Tigamera is as minmaxed as a pseudo-legendary can get - but this time, he's geared for speed and physical attacking power. The canon pseudo-legendary with the highest Attack stat when non-Mega-evolved is Garchomp, at 135, but I don't plan on mega-evolving either of my pseudo-legends, so Tigamera can afford to be just a smidge stronger, at 140 (the same as Andralaxy's Special Attack, incidentally). The 100 Speed meanwhile is just a smidge below Garchomp's 102, and since all the other stats of the various pseudo-legends fall within the 80-100 range, I settled for making everything else a square 90 and calling it a day. The movepool additions are also parallel to those of Andralaxy, in that upon evolving he gets one new status move and one new attacking move; of note is the former, Toxic Terrain, which is both flavor-related and perfect for messing with enemies who aren't Poison-type - and with HA Merciless, he'll definitely be able to take advantage of the poisoning this effect will bring!

As his stats and movepool suggest, Tigamera is built for tearing his prey apart, and it shows. With such a high attack stat and the speed to use it, a STAB attack from him can be deadly even with the damage value of the attack itself being only average at best! His strongest Dark attack is the classic item-removing Knock-Off, as Foul Play has varying results based on the opponent's attack - though the latter is viable too if you like being tricky, and egg move Pursuit is fine too just to maim anyone trying to escape. For Poison, there's the powerful but inaccurate Gunk Shot and the more reliable Poison Jab, but most of his other choices aren't quite strong enough to work even with that inflated attack stat. Extra crit chances from Poison Tail and Night Slash are worth considering though, especially with Merciless. Another thing worth noting is that Tigamera has the same type combination and a similar stat spread to Skuntank, but his coverage moves are a little more diverse. Brick Break provides excellent coverage with his Dark STAB and takes down barriers as well, and Acrobatics is also there not just 'cuz I had to make the wings do SOMETHING - without an item it'll definitely scare off any Fighting types trying to exploit his low defenses. As for Ground-types, his sole type weakness, good news: unlike Skuntank, Tigamera has a means of taking them by surprise, thanks to Ice Fang as an egg move from Arbok; even a move that weak normally is not so harmless with an attack stat as high as his. Electric and Fire attacks are also there, but geared more towards picking off specific targets and generally spreading neutral damage around. For support moves, or rather disruption ones, U-Turn is great for scouting, Taunt can shut down walls trying to stall him out, Thunder Wave and Venom Drench can mess up opponents trying to best him at his own game, and as previously noted, Toxic Terrain is a solid choice for battlefield control and giving him a chance to use Merciless, though if mistimed he may end up facing off against poisoning-resistant or airborne foes and be forced to rely on other ways to deal with them. Still, contaminating the battlefield may be worth considering if you want to cause panic - which he's generally very good at, both by bringing his foes to ruin indirectly and of course by tearing them to ribbons! Leave it to Pokémon Nadir to end off on a vicious predator with a sadistic streak and the battle capabilities to go with it, a fittingly brutal and horrific end to the list of non-legendary Pokémon of the Sundo region!

With that, the time has now come to draw things to a close, and in spectacular style. Just the ten Mythical Pokémon of this region remain, and I can promise you that each and every one of them is as glorious as you'd expect. Tune in next time to get to know the first of 'em!
