I did ponder hard and long on what to draw for my good friend for her birthday this year, since I've made various different drawings for her, and I felt dubious and reluctant to repeat myself.
In the end, I somehow conjured this small comic strip, the ideas for which sowly gnawed at my brain until I fell for it : "THAT comic is what I ought to do!"

I read a fan-fic in which skekSil had babies with SkekLa. He seemed to turn into a female. But I guess SkekLa is the female, now. Are the babies exchanged? Is SkekLa now the one who gave birth?

The answer to that dilemma's fairly simple: that fanfic was not written by me ^^
It was written by a friend who wanted to try and have my character have children with SkekSil (which never originally happened at my personal AU from where the Illustrator belongs) : you could consider that story where they have offsprings as an "AU of an AU"
SkekLa is thought to be completely sterile on my original interpretation.
The explanation to how or why SkekSil could be impregnated or give birth at that particular fiction by that writer's evident when you consider both I and her see SkekSis as "true pure hermaphrodites": creatures with two functional reproductive sets" : here, a small anatomic take I drew (presented almost as a joke but showing how I've always interpreted their biology)
That writer shares this sight on skeksis, hence she wrote that tale ^^
**At my original AU to which SkekLa actually belongs these two become mates after some 800 yrs of partnership and commradry, yet they never get to have offsprings, likely due to advanced age and SkekLa's infertility, which reduces their chances to 50% *plus mating's not a very usual activity for them due to a prohibition elicited by the Emperor at my AU *Think he intends to gain immortality: thus he created a law banning mating between his courtiers to prevent new skeksis being brought up , whom according to him would grow up to become his rivals for the throne- in which he intends to sit forever

The Emperor wasn't always like that. When he was young and stronger than anyone else, he feared no rivals. He even hoped he would come in heat himself. But as the centuries passed, it became obvious that he was one of those who could never recover from the damage that being in urSkeks had done to them.
And then he began getting old. This is when his waning strength did not show to others, but he was very aware of it. As time went on, he became more and more paranoid. At the time he created his antisex law, he was pretty far gone. I don't think that law was ever obeyed. But it did create a problem. Where could Skeksis children go? In my fanfics, they go to the Skeksan settlements on the far side of Thra. But where did SkekSil's children go? Could they go to one of my settlements?

The Emperor's rule wasn't really obeyed very well, but they did avoid embracing in public.

In my version of things it was indeed so: some of the courtiers were involved with each other as mates, but none of them would ever recognise it or demonster it in public/when any third party could see it
*unless in small funny comics where the "rules" of the A.U I've been writing become more flexible and "silly2 given that they are humoristic things and not intended to be taken as completely faithful to the "reality" of that AU ^^

I love this La! and poor SkekOk (ouch what was that!- UrAc or my version of him at any rate!) I love poor SkekOk's reaction! and La and Kel, it was hillarious! and La looks so small and fragile compared to SkekKel! and the looks of their faces are really great. you can tell he really cares for SkekLa and she him.
