Description The challenge, #3

Still not particularly impressed. I think I just stare at these things for too long. I got tired of it and just made the background nice and dark.

The insane hair and the tongue sticking out are so awesome and hilarious. And the dark background gives it some ambiance, so it all works out, huh?

wow, this is totally awesome. I really like how the lights played out.

okay, so there's just this one tiny teeny thing that I picked up, when looking at this..
in science, you don't usually heat things with a orange flame, mostly because it's not as hot, and it stains the bottom of the beaker..
but this is probably just me, being a details freak. Nevertheless, it looks better this way, because there's orange/yellow glows on things....I'll stop babbling and shut up now. X/

I just love how dark this is! My favorite part is how the light just seems to glow inside the glass and how you show liquid inside the beaker in his hand.

bloody O____O the light is awesome. Will you finish the background or leave it like this?

Thankyou. I don't intend to finish it, I don't think I'd enjoy working on it anymore. It's all forward! and onward! and such. New pictures to conquer...

oh wow, i am LOVING your drawings for this challenge thing! i think it's such a great idea, and i really admire you for doing them. and i love your style so so much! your people always have such character but still keep essential humanness. which is practically impossible. the light is amazing here, i agree with the above comment about that painting, definitely! and the dark background fits perfectly well. my favourite bit is the bits of his hair blobbing off.

Brilliant. Your approach reminds me of An Experiment On a Bird in an Air-Pump by Joseph Wright. (Oh how I love Google! I just put in 'chemist painting dark light' and found a reference to it straight away... )

Wow, his stuff is amazing (realism from around that time period is always crazyawesome, but his use of light is just... woah... I wish I could ever understand light that well). Thanks so much for sharing! and thanks for the comment .
