... The bird turned its head towards me. Through the viewfinder, I saw a pair of yellow eyes staring at me. For a moment, I digressed to check the exposure settings on my camera. And when I looked there again, I found that the branch was empty. The owl slipped away just as it appeared, without making a sound.
