Description So, it’s been a long while and I’ve decided to try and post more content in here. Since the last time I was here, I have compiled a lot of designs for nearly all major Disney Heroine and I thought it was time to actually do something about it. So here’s to hoping it sticks this time.

Notes on Belle’s dress:

I grew to love 18th century fashion over the past few years and really tried to make her iconic ball gown to something more historically accurate (but not by much admittedly).

It is essentially a mish-mash of fashion trends throughout the century as well as different styles that were concurrent during the 1780s in particular and a healthy dose of 1950s-inspired looks. I love how 50s fashion was inspired by rococo and I love how this piece is like postmodern because 50s fashion inspired many key elements to the design.

The skirt is based more on the 1780s trend where the panniers started becoming rounder on the front and back, making a more bell-shaped silhouette, which I found more pleasing than the elongated hope that was very popular in the 1760s-70s.

I started with a robe a polonaise and experimented a lot with the neckline, finding the robe de couer as a touchstone before I started incorporating a more 1950s off-shoulder neckline, which I think captures the original spirit of the dress.

Her hair’s made up to be more 1950s, but I made sure to pile up the hair more, so we can get this rococo-esque pampadour. ]

TBH, the pattern was heavily inspired by a color palette I saw online that matched the deep gold yellow I was planning to use as her main color. It looks like Dolce and I love it!!

Also, I liked using turquoise as an accent, because Beast had yellow accents on his suit, so it was a cute couple idea to have a bit of the Beast’s colors on her.

Let’s hope that I can make more!!
