Description
This is a recent class project of mine, had to create a character design and then give them a turnaround sheet. I had his concept on the backburner since... November? This was the perfect excuse to finally design him.

I do feel bad my first actually finished art since January isn't even Kirby related but eyyyy we'll get back to that real soon- got a few revamps for old characters still in the works so they should be coming along eventually soonish.

Anyhow! Here's his basic bio-

Name: Erik (he/him)
Species: Bison
Residence: (mountain continent?) Currently in a university dorm, in more of an arid mountain area.
Birthday: July 03
Age: 19

Erik is a young bison who's trying to learn how to balance his college life with his religious beliefs and his newfound abilities. Erik's close family members include his mother, baby sister, and shortly before setting off for his studies, his late father. Following a dream where he had met his distant great-grandfather’s spirit and was led to an ancient city where forgotten culture and worship thrived, Erik realized he had the ability to see and communicate with spirits. Grandpa Medanai as he's called, acts as a guide to teach Erik about this long lost religion (loosely based after the Abrahamic religions) and to help push him out of his comfort zone, which he terribly struggles with.
As for personality, Erik is incredibly shy and rarely ventures out of his normal activities. He's an absolute sweetheart however and once he's warmed up to you, one couldn't ask for a better friend. On rare occasions he may speak up if he notices someone else is struggling in an awkward or difficult situation.

Other facts:
-Erik is strictly a vegetarian.
-He greatly enjoys spicy foods, but hates sour and overly sweet food.
-His clothing (disregarding his distressed jeans) are customary to wear in the region, but unbeknownst to the civilians, non-directly derives from the clothing of the members of the ancient monastery's attire.
-Erik is missing his tail. It's common for bison to have their tails clipped at childbirth in the area.

(Will make a design for Medanai later, for now here's a short bit of his information):
Medanai is the spirit of Erik's long distant great grandfather who appeared to him in a dream before awakening his medium-like abilities. He not only teaches Erik about the religion he once attended to during his lifetime, but also how to be more confident in himself. He also helps to protect him from evil spirits and overall guides him regarding his ability.
As for Medanai's personality, he's a total jokester. He has a good heart and means well, but will take any chance he gets to playfully prank his grandson and loves to use the element of surprise to get him to try something new. His biggest pet peeve is the local university getting the history all wrong, no spiritual cheating in this classroom, sadly.
