Because we said "goodnight" & not "goodbye"
Before I adopted Temple from Platinum-Comet , it was canon that Shelby & him were close friends. Thinking about that I wanted to draw something depicting the two of them somehow still together, still friends despite under ownership of two different people.
Plus I needed more practice with SAI since as of now I primarily just use it for sketching-
Seems they're finding solace in rest under a tree...

In my headcanon, I'd like to think that if a character gets disowned from a roster, it's not a complete memory wipe to those that were close friends to them.
And I think that right now, they're both sad/worried because they feel like something... or someone... is missing. Someone that was close to them and cared about them a whole bunch, and they refuse to let that memory escape their minds.
By the way, this is a good time to point out the insane level of improvement here. Just looking the the other images in your gallery that DA is recommending to you in comparison to this one...

I like that headcanon. It makes it seem much more realistic, very much like if someone close were to move away. They still share the same world but their own seems empty without the other. It's only when they realize that they're under the same sky that they'll be able to peacefully reflect on their friendship.
I'd like to think of them as still close friends either way. :3
