Ultron is my favorite character, favorite villain in a movie, especially a superhero movie.

And I like this picture. It goes well with his thought ideology. So I'm wondering, Why does he call them puppets? What is the reason for them being puppets?

Well... .Β  Ultron thinks this 'The Strong must protect the weak' concept is completely rubbish, it's like a creed that super heroes must blindly follow, kinda like making them a puppet.Β

Hm, interesting! That's the first time I've heard it like that.

So when Ultron "thinks," that means he's not just AI?

And what strings are they tangled in? From Ultron's viewpoint?

Ultron keeps building bodies because he wants to become more, to evolve to a much powerful being, which he was suppose to be Vision.

The avengers are tangled in their feelings or emotions. Humanity is weak, in order to achieve god like power, the first thing is to abandon feelings. An AI's thought is calculated by equations and algorithms, which allow it to have a concrete goal to achieve, and won't have any issues of emotions to cloud its judgement.Β  Another example is Scarlett Johansson 'Lucy' she achieves god like power after exposing to the chemicals, after that she shows no emotions because she is able to foresee anything from past, presents and future and she can do whatever the hell she likes. It's like watching a new movie, you don't know the ending and you are all hyped. However if someone spoil the ending while you are watching it, you wont be that excited after all. Your face will turn from this 8D to this Β  .

Oh I'm glad I didn't lose this reply. Thank you for replying! I love talkin' about this stuff.

Ah huh! So if Ultron "wants" something, then that means he has a desire, right?

And this is where it gets interesting:

So if Ultron calls the Avengers "puppets" who are "tangled in strings" because they are tangled in their feelings or emotions, doesn't that mean Ultron is tangled in his emotions if he acts on his feelings? And doesn't that mean therefore that he is a puppet himself? So maybe he is only calling them puppets because he feels they are so below him. Whether he "feels" anything at all could be a debate, so this is how I could tell he feels:

Vision said, "Ultron is in pain, but that pain will roll over the world." Ultron said, "You take away my world, I'll ruin yours." First, I don't understand how only AI would be "in pain." Pain is a feeling? So he in other words said< "Ultron has feelings, and those feelings are so strong that they will wipe out the entire human race." Having feelings? How is that even possible, unless you're something more than just AI? The second thing is that Ultron cllearly has revenge on the mind, otherwise he would not even be able to make that statement, "I'll ruin yours." He obviously gets the concept of revenge. There's no mistaking it.

Yes, it really does seem like they are going for that concept too. It was the same in the end of Man of Steel when that woman alien says to Clark: "The fact that you have morals puts you at an evolutionary disadvantage." But in Ultron, oh it's MUCH trickier. It's quite good I think, the way the dialogue goes: "Every few layers God throws a stone, and believe me, he's winding up!" It's a very strange and interesting thing. It's like he's saying, "If you really believe in evolution, this is the next step, but at the same time, I'm gonna blame God." That's a whole nother discussion.

Yes, Lucy was an interesting and weird movie. And I understand how not letting emotion tangle you could better help you achieve your goal. But abandoning them? I'm not analyzing Lucy here, so I forget exactly the things she said haha, but as for Ultron, that is clearly not happening. He is in pain, and he's angry about it. When Ultron sees Vision has switched sides, he says: "You really have taken everything from me." Then he wants war. Isn't that war based on emotions then? and not just his goal to rid earth of people? Because if it was onlly about extinction and logic, then why would pure logic cause him to say, "Don't you see the beauty of it? You rise, only to fall." And in the trailer, "I'm gonna show you something beautiful. People screaming... for mercy." Firstly how can a program understand beauty?

Oh, and it's also apparent that Ultron does react to things, otherwise he would not have clipped off that guy's arm. Ultron's emotions clouded his judgment for a moment so that he did something that was not directly related to his goal. How does chopping a guys are off for comparing him to Stark help him make people extinct? It is not directly related to that goal. He did that because he was mad he was compared to a "lesser" Stark.

And I'm wondering how Ultron, if only an AI, would know the difference between "peace" and "quiet"...

Thank you for replying to my questions! Please have a good day, sir!

That's true as well. I guess Ultron is not just some normal AI, an AI with feelings. Otherwise It won't capture Black Widow and imprison her to witness his accomplishment ' I wanted to show you... I don't have anyone else.'.Β  It feels lonely.Β  Kinda amazing that Ultron has been on the internet for merely 1 minutes and decided to kill everyone around the world.Β  haha

Yeeeeeees, only a minute online and already he's figured it out...

You're the first person who's ever admitted that, that Ultron is NOT a regular AI. Thank you!

I'm just checking it now. The end of Lucy says this:

"Life was given to us a billion years ago. Now you know what to do with it."

Go kill yourself.

The message implied with the camera fading out to a dead body which had just been shot to death is pretty obvious: they might as well say, "We were born without purpose, we die without purpose. So who cares if you die."

("Go kill yourself.")

It's terrible! And I'm GLAD that Joss Whedon finally addressed how DANGEROUS belief in evolution can be in Age of Ultron. It's the same as using God as a mask for your anger, except this one seems so purposeless. Both masks are bad, but in evolution, it's like you have the right to act like animals because we basically are! Ultron is basically saying, "If you really believe in evolution, then guess what that means. Extinction. If you can't evolve to me, then you can't evolve to be. And I know all you evolutionists out there are so curious to how that works, so I'll bring extinction phase early just for you."

Hm. I should put that in a book.

I'm writing a comic for Ultron right now: Ultron Resurrection. What do you think of these ideas?

And I like your point about Black Widow. Right on! That's exactly it! He brought her there to enjooooooy her pain... I'll try and go find my other comment I made somewhere else about that...

There ya go! Found it!
www.deviantart.com/art/I-don-t…

(Please scroll down. I'm also wondering what you think about the other points in that conversation.)

Those comments go with your explanation of why he brought Black Widow back. He tries to make her feel sorry for him by saying, 'I'm all alone. You're the only one I can show,' but then nearly kills for FUN his ONLY AUDIENCE! If he's so lonely, why would he kill her off? If he's so hungry to show his abilities, why would he kill off his only remaining audience?! Clearly this "AI" Ultron has superhuman psychologically heightened abilities.

Veerrrry eeeeeerrrrry. Good writing by Joss. WOW!
