Description This opera was made in 1836 by Michael Glinka. It's about events, that has place in 1613.

That time Polish army invaded Russia, but couldn't come to Moscow because of impenetrable forest.

The poles came to village of Domnino, where the peasant Ivan Susanin was celebrated wedding of his daughter Antonida with Bogdan (they are in down right corner on my drawing).

Poles made Susanin lead them to Moscow through woods, but Susanin has time to say his adopted son, Vanya (he is near of red writing) to run to russian army and say them about this situation.

This time Susanin was leading poles in the heart of woods, where is no way out. On the left side of the picture you can see that polish soldier say to Susanin: "Where have you taken us?!". And Susanin answers: "There you will find your death".

Polish soldiers killed Susanin, but he become national hero, that helped russian army win that conflict
