um just playing around drawing with a brush and ink and i decided to redesign the batman villian scarecrow. being from massachusetts home of salem and witches and crap like that i thought he might be creepier if he were dressed kinda like a pilgrim.pic 1 of 2.

Yep! Thanks. I saw someone do it (I think Becky Cloonan in Channel Zero: Jennie One) back before it was nearly as popular as it is now, and figured I'd try my hand at it.

That's pretty good. But honestly, the scariest version of Scarecrow I've ever seen is from Batman: The New Animated Series. By the gods, it stills creeps me out. You should be able to find it on wikipedia or something.

nice work. the inking style almost reminds me of sean gordon murphy's stuff. good texture with the fingerprint/ ink application. and excellent idea having a pilgrim feel, it's great when people make educated redesigns. many people don't put enough thought into their art.

haha. the funny thing about your comment is that i was living with him at the time. he had just found out he was going to be working on that batman/scarecrow comic and was trying to come up with a design for him. i did my own as he did his.
we both really loved the newer design that batman the animated series had done where they had made him creepier and given him the noose around his neck. that was my inspiration for this.

He's defidently more frightening as a pilgrim. I love the style of this picture. The detail (especially around the teeth) is amazing. I could never for the life of me pull something like this off....you know without ruining it via smudging. Great work.

There is currently an art contest featuring members of the Legion of Doom underway at a website I go to quite often. The deadline is April 5, 2006 and I would really like you to consider putting this picture into the contest!
(The legion of Doom was like the Secret Society of Villains in the ‘70’s in case you didn’t know.)

nice ... very very nice take on the Scare crow. kind of reminds me of the redesign he underwent when they made it the New Adventures of Batman and Robin or whatever the hell they renamed the series with all the revamped characters.
