Also known as "The Stratosphere Gun" because of its ability to hit targets at an altitude of 60,000 feet.
During WWII, my father commanded a battery (4 guns) at Fort Kamehameha near Honolulu, Hawaii.
Gun is located at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, Mobile, Alabama.
About 500 guns were built, but none ever shot down a plane.
