Description
This here is a design for one of my next tats when I can afford it. I put both views of it for you;Upside down, it spells "DEATH"
Rightside up, it spells "LIFE"
I saw it as a very tiny picture on a old religious pamphlet online. I redid it the basic idea of it the best I could see and then altered it so it would read better.
The design with the wings I came up with when (okay, really fangirley now... fuckin sue me) AFI was my focal point in trying to pull myself out of a deep depression and try to live, hence the AFI wings on the outside.
The glass can be 1/2 empty, 1/2 full and it all comes down to your perception of things. Well, I made my choice last summer and can honestly say there has only been two other times in my life that I've been THIS happy.
The more I look at this, the more I can see how it can be better, and I'll update it when I get my lazy behind to redo it.

nah, this one was taken, there are alot of them if you google life death ambigram you see millions. it would be creative to make your own

ambigram is the correct term for words than can be read from more than one angle and say different or the same things

Looks awesome. Good to see I'm not the only one who draws my own tattoos. Don't feel bad about the AFI influence. My best friends both have A Fire Inside tattooed in flames on themselves. Me, I've got Hatebreed lyrics on my chest. It's all in how the music moves you

I love this design! I got it done (obviously, sans the wings) a few years ago. My mother had it on a card from church. I think it's a beautiful design, and I think the way you personalized it is fantastic.

Yeah, I found the original design on a religious pamphlet online somewhere, it was super small so I improvised a little to it. But I remember being very taken by it and thought it was spiffy.
On the release date of DU I was waiting for the signing and got bored and had someone hold my spot in line and went to get it done... but I opted last minute to put the wing with an X (sXe) on each wrist (you can see em on the DVD under the spot where they show off the fans tatts).

If you want more of these kind of words, look for "ambigram". I got two of "death note", but I'm not happy with either of them

hey i just came across your design after searching through tattoos its really well done
i done a design ages ago a bit close to it with love and hate an was wondering if you know the word thats used when you do this sort of thing to two different words

Okay, the description was updated. I just read how that could be interpreted that I came up with the full design, which was not my intention.
As stated on my main page: "I never trace although I can draw exactly what I see, so if some of it looks familiar, that's because I've prolly drew it from that same picture"

i thought ambigrams were the same no matter how you flip it? this is not an ambigram.(though it is still awsome)
but ya best example of ambigrams i know of is that movie angels and demons.
