Description
The experience is so ambiguous
on having a depressed friend
We all give our undivided attention
To someone who's depressed
But what about the one
giving their all to help?
Everyone thinks how hard it is
feeling the spontaneous sadness
Feeling useless and tired all the time
And not how hard it is
Trying to help
Advise
Support
Giving comfort
Being afraid of a sudden suicide
A terrifying call at 3 in the morning
Feeling like you are unable to help
Hopelessly looking for new ways
You can be blue in the face
From all that you give
But all they confuse it with is
"Snap out of it"
A bad accusation
When all you gave was so much more meaningful
Who has considered
How hurtful and depriving it is
To feel like you can't help somebody
Your friend
Your relationship
And watch them cry
And not be able to interpret happiness
And can't decide if they choose not to listen
Or if their depression disables them
Or having your help shoved back
Square in your face
