I personally felt a bit unsatisfied with a lot of Pokémon designs in all of the generations, more prevalently in the new starters. So, I decided to try my hand at redesigning them! However, I am not in anyway saying that this is objectively better or that the original design is bad, just off in a few ways. These are my own personal thoughts and ideas purely made for entertainment and fun.

For the scorbunny line, I felt that the design was off in terms of type and aesthetic. Specifically, the design did not gel well with my perspective on how Pokémon look and I felt that they looked like a Fighting/Normal type rather than a Fire type. I approached the design to make them look more like monsters(Pokémon) and more fiery without removing too much of the design elements of the original. The line is still based in soccer/football and wouldn't have too different of dex entery.

Scorbunny: Although clumsy, this Pokémon has a fiery spirit and an contagious moxy. When this Pokémon gets into the zone in battle it will emit embers similar to sweating.

Scorbunny is not too different from the original. Just gave it a bit more weight and emphasis on the legs. I added the headband and made the ears lopsided and attached to it like a ribbon. The tail also has a flame shape but is not on fire yet. Overall I wanted to make the pokemon look clumsy and like it has to grow into its legs. The colors are also more warm and cohesive.

Smolny/Raboot: Having grown into its legs more, this Pokémon has begun to take itself more seriously. Its burning passion fuels its training.

As an aside, I should mention how much I disliked the name of the middle evolution. I understand it but I felt the roots only further confused it with a fighting typage. My name is derived from the words smolder and cony.

I mainly removed the excessive anthro design of Raboot for Smolny, as well as adding my main idea for the line to its new color pallet. Namely the idea that the line is being 'burnt to cinders' like a matchstick! I also made the design look more connected to Scorbunny.

Cinderace: This Pokémon prides itself on its powerful, acrobatic kicks which can set anything it hits a blaze. It loves being on top of the game and often gets fired up when in the center of attention.

Cinderace is the most different from the original as I found the final to be the most disappointing to me. But in keeping with the original design philosophy, I made this fire Pokémon a football ace and a monster! The one thing I was most excited for was to make Cinderace look like they were made of cinders, with a crown design where Scorbunny's bandage is.
