Description Advena -

Stars like our Sun will eventually die and expel most of their material outward into shells of gas and dust. These shells eventually form some of the most beautiful objects in the universe, called planetary nebulae. This was such a star.

Around 12 hours with around 48 layers in total.

lol @ digit and skurvy, heheh
i think it looks ok, and although the difference cloud is quite clear here...i think it suits the image anyway

colours are intresting, the planet texture looks good from here...but as if it was low res and blurred when spherised, mabey needs a sharpening up + embossed layer?

just looks a bit blurry, nothing big to worry about..its hardly noticable anyway nice w0rk.

Nice work, I love the nebula, it looks so alive. The planet is nice too mate, the colors and textures again are very nicly done. The only thing I would have to critique would be the lil signature at the bottom right, but still nothing to worry about.

Great coloring and lighting. I like the simplicity of this. The lens flares also add a nice touch. Great stuff.

Best piece you done to date M8 ................Just don't like the lense flare ...............Would have prefered you to do it manually instead of using a filter ..............you get better results manually and ppl can tell its not filtered .......

nice work, but i do agree you can do much better than this. The clouds are really nice, starfields ok, planets could be a little better.. But what deffinately needs changing are the flares you used... PS flares are fecking balls if you dont develop them or use flares from another program like 3dsm.....

The lighting is also off, the star below the planet would be giving off light too hence adding light on the bottom side of the planet.

Other than that, great work.

i like the planets, but it looks like you used differrence clouds and layer modes for the nebulae.. you can do better.

skurvy In reply to d1git [2003-12-16 15:19:03 +0000 UTC]

Yep, I did used them to make my brushed nebula pop.

d1git In reply to skurvy [2003-12-21 19:01:04 +0000 UTC]

like i said, you can do better. use a default texture that photoshop gives you instead of difference clouds. also make sure your shadow layer on your planet is above your glow layer, so the crescent glow doesnt go beyond the shadow... that looks really.... wierd

skurvy In reply to d1git [2003-12-21 19:10:54 +0000 UTC]

I never have any shadow layer, and I dont see what you mean. Well it looks good even tho I used difference clouds, you just have to use it in the right way.But now when I look back, I wish I never used it.

what about that planet glow?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

skurvy In reply to d1git [2003-12-21 20:13:02 +0000 UTC]

by a shadow layer, which you said, I think off something you put over the atmosphere (planets dont glow) so that you cant see any atmosphere where the light isnt comming from.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

d1git In reply to skurvy [2003-12-21 22:10:24 +0000 UTC]

yeah... but on your planet the atmosphere goes over the shadow... the crescent glow continues over the shadow
