“This isn’t funny, Tyler? The Black Devil? The superhero wannabe? How long have you been hiding this from me!?” Alex’s accusatory tone threw a blade into Tyler’s heart.

“Alex, please let me expla… argh”, Tyler’s attempt at explaining was foiled as Alex reached upwards and pulled at her face, trying to remove her “mask”. “Oww, oww …. schorp”

Alex kept pulling on the dark cheeks, baring Tyler’s sharp teeth and black tongue. “Could be an intricate mask”, Alex thought as her frustrations made her held her grip longer, before finally letting go with a snap.

“Do you know how much I worried about you when you were missing!”, Alex continued with her scolding, “and yet you’re out there fighting with just a costume?”

“Itsh nop a cushtume,” Tyler mummered through her swollen cheeks, “I’av changed.”

The nurse was unconvinced as she tried to search for a seam or zipper, roaming her hands around Tyler’s chest and torso. The “suit” felt like latex, appearing wet but is actually dry to the touch. The tentacles moved about in natural, organic motions, reacting to her touch. As she pushed her hands into Tyler’s torso, Alex slowly realized Tyler’s inhuman nature as her hands went in deep, finding only more tentacles where there should be human abs.

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?” A hint of concern slipped into Alex’s angry tirade, finally pausing enough for Tyler to reply.

“I … I was afraid you won’t accept … what I’ve become,” Tyler said, her voice cracking from her emotions.
