Okay guys! To give you something in the mean time while I'm working on chapter two notes for Jackie's story, (and mostly to hold ME over from not sticking to the plan of getting things organized before jumping right in again XD), I bring you a short.A flashback short. Before Val and Derek were Val and Derek, they were.... Val and Derek: Miniature Edition.
Oh! Also, two new important things I am testing with this:
The 'Animated Panel' Circle, and page numbers.
The idea for the circle is that when its "full" the animation is done/will just keep looping so feel free to click to the next panel. And the page numbers.. is self explanatory haha. Both which I'm not sure are needed - and kind of tedious to add, but do they help?

Well, if they are extra work for you I'd say you don't need them. I always wait for the animation to look like its looping before I move on, but I do like the little circle, its cool. I like page numbers too, because it makes me appreciate how much work you actually put into these comics, but I don't think you need either of them, really. They are a nice touch though. (51 pages is a lot though- I didn't realize how many pages you make for these things. 
As for the comic itself- I love. Little Derek is so cute! >////< I wonder what happened to their dad though? Will you tell us in later parts of the story maybe?

Yeah you will for sure find out what happens to their dad in the story
And yess! And this one is short! 
It iss more work, but not hard work - just tedious work XD But if they do help I'd like to keep using them!

The one thing I'm rather curious about. Was the hat a means of moving thoughts so he could find Mookie?

Val explains what the hat does in part 7 - which all the hat DOES is give you a glimpse of the other persons memories!
The staff is what 'finds' things.
