Monday, 7:30 P.M.

Amy's POV

I was working on my science homework and listening to The All-American Rejects. I pushed up my glasses as I stared at the sheet. Yeah, I have glasses. And I also wear baggy shirts and sweat pants. Don't I sound like the most attractive girl on the planet?

Anyways, I was working on my science when I was interrupted by a male voice. "Rouge, I was just messing around! You don't need to get all worked up over one thing!" I knew that voice anywhere. That's Shadow. He's been my best friend for as long as I can remember.

He started dating Rouge the bat three months ago. She's captain of the cheer squad and the most popular girl in school. But she's a spoiled, stuck-up bitch! I've hated her since the day we met.

I peeked behind my curtain and saw Shadow pacing his room, yelling into his cell phone. "Rouge! You need to calm down!" I sighed and pushed the curtain back all the way. "Whatever, I'll talk to you later. Bye."

Shadow hung up and sighed. I never understood what he saw in her. He can do so much better. I grabbed my sketch pad and got a black marker. I scribbled on it and lifted it to my window so he could see. (You okay?)

I saw him smile and grab his notebook. He wrote something down and showed it to me. (Tired of drama) I scribbled on my pad and lifted it up, giving him a sad smile. (Sorry ) Shadow smiled at me. I could feel myself blushing, so I had to look down at my pad.

I've had a crush on Shadow since the 8th grade, but I've never had the courage to tell him. But now, I felt brave.......and stupid. I slowly formed three words on the paper and looked up. I frowned when I saw him put down his blinds.

I lifted up the pad and sighed. (I love you)

Shadow's POV

I put down my blinds and looked back at my phone on the bed. I picked it up and flipped it open. I had a picture of me and Amy at her Sweet 16 as my screensaver. Rouge has always been trying to get me to change it to a picture of just her, but I won't.

I thought about my relationship with Rouge lately. When we first started dating, I thought she was the girl of my dreams, but now, I'm starting to see why Amy hates her so much. Maybe I should call Rouge and apologize?

I shook my head at the idea. No, she just needs sometime to cool off. I heard "Dirty Little Secret" playing from Amy's window, so I peeked through my blinds. Amy was dancing around and singing into a hairbrush in front of her mirror.

I tried hard to hold back my laughter. I watched her whip her hair and dance like nobody was watching. That's what I loved about Amy. She's never too afraid to do something stupid. I looked at my clock and sighed. I lied down on my mattress and fell asleep.

Tuesday, 4:27 P.M.

Amy's POV

"As she lied on her crisp, cold bed, a last tear of broken sorrow slid down her cheek as she gently froze to death. THE END"

I wiped my glasses of the tears on the lens as I closed my book. I always loved to read tragic romance novels. They fit my situation perfectly. Shadow is the man who longs to be loved, Rouge is the evil girl who wins him in the end, and I'm the lonely girl who dies of a broken heart.

"Hey, you okay?" I looked up and saw Shadow walking towards me with his hands in his pockets. I quickly wiped my eyes and squeezed my book as he sat down next to me on the bench. "Yeah, I just finished another book is all."

Shadow chuckled at me and looked at me with those ruby-red eyes I love so much. "I don't see why you read those books. None of them have happy endings." I shrugged and looked at the cover. "Real life doesn't have happy endings either."

I felt a gloved hand on my shoulder. I turned and held my breath when I saw Shadow giving me a concerned look. "C'mon, Ames. I know you too well to except an answer like that from you. Is something wrong?"

I had to think fast. I couldn't tell him the truth; he'd laugh at me! "Nothing's wrong, Shads. Just thinking about a movie I saw." I looked up at him and saw a smile on his face that I haven't seen in a while. Before I could react, he started tickling me.

"SHA-SHADOW!!! HAHAHAHAHAH!!! ST-STAHAHAHAHAHAP!!!!!!!" "NEVER!" I couldn't take it anymore. I grabbed his hands and shoved him off of me. I quickly sat up and tickled his sides. We kept up our little 'tickle fight' for about five minutes.

We finally calmed down and sat there, laughing. "Man, that was awesome." About five seconds later, we saw a cherry-red Ferrari pull up to the curb. There, in the driver's seat, was none other than the Queen Bitch herself, Rouge.

"Hey." I thought I was gonna barf when I saw her wink at Shadow. I turned to him and watched as he stood up and walked towards her car. He opened the door and sat down next to her. I watched as she pulled his face towards her and kissed him.

I felt that I was gonna be sick when I saw that Shadow was enjoying the kiss. She wrapped her wings around his back and deepened the kiss. I glared at her as she opened one eye and looked at me as if to say "I win."

She quickly tore her mouth from Shadow's and threw him back into the seat. I was left in awkward silence as they drove off. Stupid bat.

Thursday, 12:23 A.M.

Normal POV

Amy was awakened by the sound of someone tapping on her window. She groaned as she slithered out of bed and opened the window. She looked down to see Shadow with a bag full of marbles in his hand. "Hey." Amy rubbed her eyes. "What are you doing here? Do you have any idea what time it is?"

Shadow shrugged his shoulders. "I just wanted to talk." Amy sighed. "Okay, I'll meet you at the castle in three minutes." Amy grabbed a blanket and ran downstairs. She grabbed two spoons from the kitchen and grabbed a tub of chocolate ice cream from the fridge.

She quickly ran out the backdoor and ran to a tall oak tree. She looked up and saw a tree house sitting between three thick branches. Amy grabbed one of the planks that was hammered to the tree's trunk and started to climb up.

She felt a warm hand grab her shoulder as she reached the top. "Hey." Amy sat down and gave Shadow one of the spoons and put the ice cream between them. She pulled the blanket around herself as Shadow turned on the lantern and hung it in its usual place.

"So, what's wrong?" Shadow sighed as he pulled the lid off of the tub of ice cream and dug his spoon in. "I can't take much more of this drama." Amy rolled her eyes and took a spoonful of ice cream. "You should've known there was going to be drama if you dated the most popular girl in school."

Shadow licked his spoon and took another scoop. "Yeah, but, I just don't get it. I thought Rouge was the girl of my dreams-" "Excuse me while I go barf" Amy interrupted. Shadow smiled and continued. "But, now, I'm starting to see why you don't like her."

Amy frowned. "I don't just not like her, Shadow. I HATE her. She's a stuck-up bitch who acts like she's the queen of the school." Shadow groaned. "I don't know what to do, Ames. I need your help." Amy sighed and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Look, I only have one piece of advice." Shadow looked at her. "And what's that?" Amy smiled. "Listen to what your heart is telling you, Shads." Shadow stared at her for a moment, then grabbed her and pulled into a hug.

Amy blushed at his actions, but soon found herself hugging back. "I-I think we should get back to bed. You have a game tomorrow." Shadow nodded and let go of Amy. Amy grabbed the spoons, blanket, and the empty ice cream tub and headed for the door.

"Good night, Shadow." "Night, Ames."

Friday, 7:35 P.M.

Shadow's POV

I could feel the adrenaline pumping through my veins as I ran across the field with the football. The sounds of the screaming fans was deafening. Coach called a time-out and I trotted to the bench. As he explained the play to the others, I scanned the crowd.

First, I saw Rouge. She winked at me in her cheerleader outfit and blew me a kiss. I smirked at her and looked through the stands 'till I saw Amy. She caught my glance and smiled sheepishly at me. She gave me a thumbs-up and I smiled back.

There were only ten seconds left in the game and Sonic passed me the ball. I turned and ran as fast as I could. I could feel the players from the other team on my heels, but I kept running. I was so close. I ran and ran until......................TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I opened my eyes and saw everyone cheering and I stood up. The other players grabbed me and lifted me onto their shoulders. I cheered and saw Rouge waving at me from the top of her pyramid. I saw Amy going nuts and chuckled to myself.

*Later after the game*

I was on my way to the showers when I saw Rouge. I went to go talk to her when I saw that she was flirting with Knuckles. I ran up to her, anger in my voice. "What's going on here?!?!?!?!?!?" Rouge huffed at me and crossed her arms.

"C'mon, Shaddy, it's not like we ever were a 'thing'. Don't bitch at me." I growled at her. "Fine" I growled, "We're done." Rouge stuck her tongue out at me as I turned back to the locker rooms. I couldn't believe it.

Rouge and I were over. But, the strange thing was, I wasn't really upset about it. I actually felt.......relieved. As if a huge weight was just lifted off of my shoulders. I was free of Rouge and all that damn drama.

Saturday, 6:45 P.M.

Normal POV

Shadow fixed his tux and looked at himself in the mirror. He was pleased with himself and grabbed his cell phone. He looked over and saw Amy through her window. She was wearing a white tank top and green sweat pants.

Shadow's POV

I picked up my pad and wrote down on it. I knocked on my window until Amy looked up. I lifted the pad so she could see. (You going?) I saw her smile and write something down. I frowned when I read her response. (No, studying)

I looked at her as she gave me that sad smile. I thought about my relationship with Ames. We had been best friends since she moved next door in pre-school. I thought about the way she acted around me and about little things like how her eyes sparkled at the smallest sign of happiness.

I thought about the books she read and what they were about. I felt butterflies in my stomach when I thought about her smile. It was beautiful, no, more than that,.......flawless. Yeah, that was it, flawless. I felt my cheeks turn hot as I came to my final conclusion.

I looked down at my pad and wrote eight letters on it. I read them over and over again. I quickly tore off the page, folded it neatly, and put it in my coat pocket. I grabbed my keys and headed to my car.

Amy's POV

I sighed as I told Shadow I wasn't going to the dance. I never really went to dances OR football games, for that matter. But, I guess I went because I wanted to cheer Shadow on. Mentally, I cheered when Shadow told me he and Rouge broke up.

Maybe, I could............no. No, I couldn't. He's my best friend.

What if I tell him and he rejects me?

What if he doesn't?

What would happen to our relationship? I still want to be his friend.....

He would freak out.

I sighed as my thoughts continued to fight one another. I soon came to a conclusion. I loved Shadow. And I can't hide it anymore. I stood up and walked to my mirror. I slowly grabbed my glasses and slowly removed them......

*At the school dance*

Normal POV

Shadow sipped his punch as he watched everyone dance. He didn't really want to go, now that he was single, but all football players were required to go. Shadow saw Sonic and his girlfriend, Nikkei the cat, talking and walked over to them to start a conversation.

"Hey, Sonic." The blue hedgehog looked up at Shadow and smirked. "Sup, Shads." Shadow shrugged. "Not much, just looking stupid by going to a school dance without a date." Sonic chuckled. "Well, I for one am happy you and Rouge split up." Nikkei chimed in. "She is such a drama queen."

"Tell me about it" Shadow agreed as he rolled his eyes at his stupidity for ever falling for the white bat. Sonic nodded and something caught his eye. Sonic's eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. "Dude, is that................."

Shadow turned and felt his face turn red at the sight. There, at the entrance, stood none other than Amy Rose. She was almost unrecognizable because of her attire. She had her hair down in luscious waves and had on a pure white dress with shimmering bracelets at her wrists.

Shadow jaw widened as he saw her make eye contact with him. She smiled and started walking towards the stunned male hedgehog. Shadow turned and started walking towards her when he felt a sudden jerk on his sleeve.

He turned and saw Rouge in a silk scarlet dress. "Hey, Shaddie." Shadow tugged away. "Too late, Rouge." He turned back to Amy, leaving an angry Rouge with her arms crossed. Soon, the two were right in front of each other.

Amy looked up at Shadow and smiled. She pulled out a piece of paper and unfolded it. She held her breath as he read what she wrote. (I love you) Shadow looked up at the bubblegum hedgehog and smiled.

He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the piece of paper he put in earlier. He unfolded it and let Amy read it. (I love you) Amy gasped and looked up at the ebony hedgehog. He smiled and pulled her into a hug.

Amy hugged him back and looked into his eyes. As they were a breath apart, Amy whispered into his ear. "You belong with me." And finally, after fifteen years, their lips finally met.
