When Jun Nakayama finally learns not to be afraid of the outside world and to open up to people fully, as she does with the main character, she awakens to her true persona, Epona, borne from Arwen . The fact that Jun's persona is no longer riding a horse and instead *is* the horse symbolises her taking her fate fully into her own hands.

Epona is named for the ancient Celtic goddess of horses, worshipped for her stewardship of cavalries and journeys with souls in the after-life
