I found I actually have a tripod with the correct size thread to fit the Bogen/Manfrotto #3025 tripod head, my short Gitzo tripod. As far as I can figure out, it is a Gitzo Loisir Compact Luxe Table & Chestpod tripod, made from 1984-1994. I purchased the tripod, used, without a head, a few years ago.
I also found out that my Bogen/Manfrotto #3025 tripod head, and my short Gitzo tripod share a history. Manfrotto and Gitzo are actually subsidiaries of the same company: The Vitec Group. In fact, Gitzo tripods are all distributed under the Manfrotto name.
