Description
Maple wood knob WIP
I picked up a used mono-pod/walking stick, with a 1/4-20 threaded post on the top. I don’t like exposed threads, so I decided to make a protective knob to thread onto it. I grabbed a seasoned branch, from my maple tree, I think. On the lathe, I turned into shape, and drilled the hole for the insert.
Now, the insert gave me some trouble. It was drilling out the hole, rather then threading into the sides of the hole. And the insert needed to be shortened so that the threaded post can engage the insert. So, after grinding and filing the insert to length, I epoxied it into the knob.
