Description I am so pumped for Disney's Moana to come out in 2016! I'm excited (and maybe a little nervous) to see how Polynesian culture will be represented. Being of Native Hawaiian heritage myself, I hope that the movie is based on Polynesian culture and not stereotype. But I trust Disney and know that they can do it well!!!

I love it! I'm so excited Disney has a Polynesian princess! In fact, I'm being Moana for Halloween! XD Im kinda nervous as well, I'm Polynesian too, and it's like half of me is exploding with excitement while the other half is kinda hesitant. Lol.

I am 1/8 hawaiian, but it is the culture that I most identify myself with! So much of my family lives in Hawaii. I'm so excited for Moana to come out. I'm sure Disney will try their hardest to represent Polynesian cultures well. I hope they will.

I can't stress enough how culture and your roots are so sooo important!Especially nowadays in a westernized world where the norm is the eurocentric one.Β I've always wanted to visit Hawaii it looks like it's just magical. Have you ever gone back? Β

You should seriously visit! I've gone back 3 times, twice when I was little and once about 5 years ago. I miss it so much! My mom's whole side of the family lives on Kauai. It is a beautiful island.

Yes I am Hawaiian and proud! They haven't specified if Moana will be based on Hawaiian culture... all we know right now is that she will be Polynesian. We shall see!
