Ever since the introduction of Krystal's character, there has been a massive conflict between Krystal's fans and others within the larger StarFox fandom, especially fans of the character Fara from the Itoh comics. Although I generally prefer Krystal to Fara (subjective opinion), I can't objectively place one over the other since they have a lot in common with how their respective stories have handled their characters, as well as common objective issues, like how both of them had some otherwise great character traits that were overshadowed by their romance with Fox. Other than that, I think it is harmful to both characters to argue which one should be Fox's romantic partner.

Since I am currently beginning a StarFox fancomic, I want to have a meta-reflection of this conflict in the fandom play a part in the character development arcs for both Krystal and Fara, and also have it play a role in how the two bond. Fara was jealous of Krystal at first. Krystal had served with the StarFox team, and had a romantic relationship with Fox. Fara test piloted the technology needed for the CloudRunner Arwing, and it was ultimately given to Krystal with that name. Fara feels like she had been totally replaced, and it hurts, bad.

Fara feels Krystal doesn't belong among them, among the StarFox team and defenders of the Lylat System, inversely, Krystal feels the same way and it stands as a constant insecurity of hers'. She comes from beyond Lylat civilization, but the place she had come from is long gone, she can never go back. She is trapped in a civilization that she is an alien to and has no one to relate to. Krystal feels isolated, and Fara feels replaced.

At the Advent of Dash Bowman declaring War on Corneria, and the threat of Androssian tyranny looming over the Lylat System once again, these two are forced to work side by side as the StarFox team needs all the help they can get. They will likely even become great friends, since the two have a lot in common. Like how both of them have had an enemy romantically obsessed with them before. Panther being very infatuated with Krystal in SF Assault/Command, while Andross kidnaps Fara in the Itoh comics because she looked so much like James's wife whom he was obsessed with before.
