I was wondering, it said in the desc: "To see me in-game (Both presets):", I downloaded it, now where do I put it?

Β Β Thanks for showing an interest in my presets, but I'm afraid I'll have to say no.Β Β It's just that she is the second form of one of my main characters, pretty much my OC, and so I wish to keep her private.Β

Waiit wait wait wait, lemme get this straight...
You somehow have a code that does GLOWING /and/ animated presets?
... Where can I find this? xD

Well, to be honest, I look at examples in tutorials and then, through trial and error, find out how they work. This here is an example of matching them together. I am yet to find a coding that does the same as the 'multiply' layer in gimp and such (hence the opacity of the texture). So you can't really find a code that is exactly the same as this because there isn't one. I have use parts of different codes to make a custom one suitable for this character. I'm not expert at coding, however, so occasionally I did add a fix texture atop the moving one so it didn't have so obvious seams in places. For each layer (once you put pass and have a different texture layer) you can change the lighting and so for the top layer I just added the glowing code. So it went in this order:
Body base colour (moving)
Body fixed colour (unmoving)
Body texture (partially transparent)
Body glowing markings (glowing)
You do it in that order, think of it as wrapping a present or something, whatever you do first goes beneath the rest. You know the typical:
}
pass
{
That separates each layer. Above the texture_unit you can then put the coding for whatever you want. If you want the one below to show through though, you'll need it to be a png.
For example, the glowing markings section was:
}
pass
{
emissive 1.0 1.0 1.0
scene_blend alpha_blend
texture_unit
{
texture preset_17body.PNG
}
(Excusing the fact that the spaces don't work).

I see, thanks for the info on that. I have /always/ wanted to learn how exactly coding works, but no one ever cared to answer like you xD
Hm... Im going to waste all my time experimenting with this, aren't I? :U
pffshshs xD

Yeah, I read about that.
Ahh yes, the infamous multiply layer code... it's a sonuvabitch to find. >_> <_<
If by some off-chance I find it, i'll let ya know

I do believe I've found it (or something like it) in the cmain.material / fmain.material where it codes the shading onto the default FH characters.
scene_blend zero src_colour
Seems to have a similar effect, though due to the nature of the texture I have on the outside, it still looks a little dark, but no matter! I'll work something out.Β Β (Well, here's hoping anyways. xD )

Umm...I don't really know what you mean by purple effect... However the entire colouring of the preset changes like...a cloud moving across the sky I guess. That is due to the colouration of the main body being on a different image to the fur texture, so that I can make the colours of the body move and swirl about (which is the animated part of the preset). The purple/pink colour was just the colour I chose to make the preset. The white markings were the glowing markings, which meant that they light up in the dark so to speak. To help any more than that you'd have to explain a bit better what you mean I'm afraid lol.

Sorry for the late reply, haven't been really that active on dA for a while, have a look at birthdaycupcake's comment, if you want to join you'll have to ask her.I was considering making a semi-real to unrealistic rp for a while, but that could be anytime to next year since I've been busy recently.

Skylandy In reply to xXSkyBueXx [2013-02-10 13:31:22 +0000 UTC]
Sorry it didn't help that much, like I said, it can be complicated. I looked at the patterns and with lots of trial and error managed to figure out basically what each did (or at least had an idea). If you want I could try to write one for you? I would need to know the names and orders of each of the layers. For example if you want a fur texture, and what you would name it, or which of the layers are supposed to move (I'm not that great at changing the direction or speed of the animation, especially since I can't try it with the actual preset to see if it works, but I can still try if you want). It is harder to make a preset coding without the actual preset, but I could give it a bash? It would be practice for me I guess, so I can't garentee the result will be fantastic. Otherwise I'm really sorry I couldn't help more, though before doing an animated preset it might be worth trying Sully's tutorial for glowing presets, since that's where I learnt the basics. You can find Sully's tutorial here: [link]
Either way, I'm sure you'll manage it if you keep trying
