abandoned home in Tres Piedras, a tiny desert village on the slopes of the Tusas Mountains in New Mexico. My great-great-great grandmother lived here in the early 1900's.

Excerpt from one of her letters written during that time (to her daughter) :
"Well dear are you thinking of paying us a visit this summer? I do so wish you would. May had thought of coming soon but in her last letter said she felt so badly that she had given up on coming. Will later as she could not bear the idea of meeting her old friends and going over the details of the childrens' death. Poor girl, she will never get over her terrible loss. I'm glad to see signs of spring as our winter has been so cold and hard."
