He remembered the wave. How could he forget?

It had swept over everything he knew. Destroyed everything he had. Killed the one he cared for the most. Kaladin hadn't looked at the ocean the same since. What would he do if he saw another? Would he be able to run this time? But the ocean had always been that way, hadn't it? An untamable force? The monster that kept them here and that had brought the humans to their deaths all those years ago? Perhaps, he wondered, did it enjoy it?

But it was still the ocean, it couldn't feel anything at all.

He remembered the wave as well. He'd helped create it.

It was power, not his to wield though. The Alva held that power alone perhaps. But it made him feel strong. They could control the tides, they could control the ocean! His blood had been used to summon the greatest use of power he'd ever seen. But he wasn't sure if powerful was the only way he felt. He'd also seen what the wave did. Was having that much power really such a good thing? Or would it bring about the detriment of them all? He couldn't be sure.

In the end he was just a solider, he wasn't meant to feel at all.
