(29/1/21) Updated information; Skye makes it through the battle royale, but is defeated by Guzma in the first round.

Uhhhh, so I realized that, by giving Hollystrike (Litten/Torracat) to Skye, I basically destroyed the entire Masked Royal plot that is pretty important to Litten/Torracat's character development since Skye ain't a battle-focused character.

In my defense, I decided to give Ash's Litten over to Skye long before Masked Royal made his debut in Pokéani <:U

Yeah, I know. How in the fuck did it take me this long to realize this? I, uhhhhh, am 100~ episodes behind on SM lkjdfkjdsflk

Onto the story info-dump--

When Masked Royal announces that he would be having an exhibition match against the Alola League champion, Hollystrike becomes very excited over the prospect of battling her rival, Masked Royal's Incineroar. However, she quickly realizes that it won't happen, as Skye wasn't interested with participating in the league. This realization disheartened her, to say the least.
Skye took notice of Hollystrike's disappointment, and he feels pretty bad for her. So, with his experiences of the Island Pilgrimage under his belt--
Skye signs up for the Alola League, much to everyone's surprise (especially Ash's cuz holy shit). Skye doesn't think that he'd make it far, as it would be his first league and he'd be going up against far stronger/experienced trainers (like ASH) but he is willing to try for Hollystrike.
Cut to the league's battle royale round. Skye chooses Platinum, but Pika stays with him as a passive 'mon as usual. Initially, Ash and Skye team up so that they could keep each other in the fight, but it wasn't long until Ash disappears into the dust and leave Skye to fend for himself.
Aaand Skye ends up losing. And he is horrified. He didn't even make it into the first round. He had put Hollystrike's hopes up just so he could trip at the starting gate and be left behind by everyone else.
As the Top 16 are sorted, Skye tearfully tells Hollystrike about his failure. But, Hollystrike makes it clear that she is very grateful that Skye went out of his comfort zone for the chance to make her happy.
