The answer about the date, and if she escapes will be coming in a new series I will be writing. As for the other two questions.
1. They are special shoes she custom ordered, and yes they are very strong.
2. Her ankles are as strong as the rest of her, she stays in top shape ever since her service in the military ended.

For one, a metal chair with the legs welded to a weight to prevent a captive from hopping away.
Two, use something other than rope; leather belts, duct tape, or electrical cords.
Three, industrial strength chains added on top of number two; the chains weigh down, added with the welded chair, you get the picture.
Four, and this is a big one, use a better gag then just a simple cleave. Seriously, you do not know how many people can still talk through that sucker. Stuffing usually works, but i bulid on top of stuff; stuffing, OTM gag, Duct Tape and Micro-foam tape over the OTM. Keeping the nose clear is a essential; a dead kidnappee is no good to ANYONE.
