"Mapleleaf of the Nightfall Guild!" Howlingstar growled, "I need to go! The guild needs Lanternstar not me!" His golden eyes pored into the she-cats very soul burning her heart with agonizing flames. "But you're the leader!" She hissed her voice cracking "You can't just leave them!" Slowly the fire turned to embers as the tom's face seemed to grow old and weak "You know what this is" He sighed warily. Lowering his head Howlingstar pushed the maple leaf twords her.
"Time can be re-written" Mapleleaf growled.
"Not this time Maple" Howlingstar turned from the hole without looking back. Spinning in front of his path the copper she cat blocked the leader's way "You can't just go off on your own! You'll get yourself killed!"
"I remember when I first met you, you know... A squirming kit fighting every step of the way back to camp. I can see that fire isn't gone." Lanternstar sighed "You're not going to stop badgering me anytime soon are you?" With a smirk Mapleleaf mewed "Nope"
"Then come on, I could use a traveling companion"
