Death from Sandman. No disrespect intended to Kirby-Howell Baptiste, who I'm sure plays Death terrifically -- but because I've not seen the TV series, I decided to go back to the comic book and also to photos of the late Cinamon Hadley, who inspired her original look.

I tried to stick to just black and white, but that didn't really work. I needed some dark and light greys as well, just to give the hair some depth, to say nothing of highlighting and shading. And since I'm in a mood to pick nits, I think the shape of this face is all wrong. It's too long, meaning the jaw's a bit too big, and there's a bit too much space between the nose and the mouth. And there should be a bit of a tilt to the right (or rather, her left). Just a bit, to add just a touch of humanity, even if the character is not human and predates humanity by billions of years. Because despite that, because she's there at everyone's entrance and exit, she's got considerable reserves of empathy.
