This is Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat, he is the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei assassin clan, and is one of the Zulia's apprentices among New Generation of Elementbenders who fought against Borg Empire to liberate the Elemental System from Borgs.

About his backstory

There are two incarnations of Sub-Zero, both of whom are siblings: older brother Bi-Han, and younger brother Kuai Liang. Both are blue garbed warriors who, at different times, have used the codename "Sub-Zero", and both are members of the Lin Kuei. They are descended from Cryomancers, an exiled Edenian race possessing the ability to generate and control ice. However, they were born in Earthrealm and only the younger Sub-Zero would discover his heritage. Bi-Han and Kuai Liang were born to a Cryomancer father and a Chinese-American human mother. Their father was a secret operative for the Lin Kuei in the United States, eventually taking both sons back with him to China, against their mother's wishes. The brothers would then be trained as Lin Kuei assassins. However, this is no longer canon. It has since been established that both brothers were kidnapped by the Lin Kuei when they were still children. After Bi-Han was murdered by Scorpion, Kuai Liang swore to avenge him. He took his brother's former codename, Sub-Zero, as a means of honoring his brother. He entered the second Mortal Kombat with only one goal in mind: hunting down his brother's killer. Although the two brothers differ significantly in many ways, they both share traits in common. Kuai Liang comes off as a menacing, stern, distant, and cold man who prefers to remain in the shadows, not unlike his elder brother. However, Kuai Liang is more serious, disciplined, humane, and honorable than Bi-Han ever was. In contrast to his older brother, who eventually succumbed to darkness, the younger Sub-Zero remained firmly on the side of justice. This vast disparity caused the two siblings to disown one another, stating "we share blood, we are not brothers". Kuai Liang's strong moral principles have also brought him into conflict with his own clan. Horrified by the Lin Kuei's cyberization initiative, Kuai Liang openly rebelled and eventually left the clan altogether in horror and disgust, thereby breaking the sacred codes of honor. In response, his former clan marked him for death, programming Cyrax, Sektor, and his former friend Smoke to hunt down and terminate him. Kuai Liang subsequently joined Liu Kang, Raiden, and Earthrealm's other defenders in the struggle against Shao Kahn. Sub-Zero defeated and killed Sektor, becoming the new Lin Kuei Grandmaster in the process. Under his stewardship, the Lin Kuei would be reformed and rebuilt into a force for good. But things soon went downhill for Sub-Zero, because his power have suddenly started to cause more harm than good for Lin Kuei. This forced Sub-Zero to leave Lin Kuei and go somewhere where he will be unharmful for all. He fled to planet Sigma in the Elemental System, and many years later, Zulia, the Neutropian Sorceress, who trained the New Generation of Elementbenders while fighting the Borg Empire in the Elemental System alongside them, found him, and discovered what was the cause of Sub-Zero's powers going out of control. He was too troubled and concerned about what was and what will be happening for him. And she offered herself to help him overcome those negative traits in himself. With Zulia's help along with the reest of her apprentices, Sub-Zerohe managed to overcome his weaknesses during his the final fight between Borg Generals and New Generation of Elementbenders, in which Zulia and her apprentices stood triumphant. And that is the story about Sub-Zero's origins.

Personal information

Traits and Personalities: Sub-Zero is driven only by his own motivations with no fear of any outside interference. Being a ninja he is cautious, quiet and sure not to draw too much attention on himself. While showing others that he's one of the good guys he, at the same time, takes care not to make himself an easy target for his clan enemies. Being a former ninja he still does what he then did best; he kills his opponents having no qualms about it. Also being hunted constantly has put his senses into a state of constant alertness but being cool about it he wouldn't appear paranoid about it.
Strengths: Sub-Zero is extraordinarily resistant to fear which together with his ice powers have given him the artist name Sub-Zero. He had the guts to quit his ninja clan, which marked him for death, and has even gone public about his criminal past (no Dark Secret). For other individuals he appears to be a person of great bravery and self-knowledge.
Weaknesses: Sub-Zero sometimes has problems to face and overcome his criminal past, and that can prove detrimental to him, as it can cause him to lose control over his powers. Other weaknesses include that he can be sometimes predictable, and a lack of potions for certain situations. And despite his incredible powers, he's a mortal like most of the Heroes of the Universe, and can be wounded and/or killed by any means. In addition, his emotional baggage and desire to live up to his brother's name can at a times cloud his judgement.
Powers and Abilities: Being the descendant of the cryomancers, Sub-Zero possesses power over ice and the ability to control it in many forms. He can flash-freeze people and create an ice statue of himself to act as a scapegoat that can flash-freeze opponents. With the Dragon Medallion, Sub-Zero can form a large sword made of ice called the Kori Blade, which he uses for his alternate weapon fighting style. He also has great martial arts skills thanks to his training with the Lin Kuei and these skills are increased by the Dragon Medallion and his ancestral armor. Sub-Zero can even freeze the moisture in the air into any form, including an icy mist, indicating that he can freeze molecules. In his ending in Deception, his Cryomancer armor was shown to speak to him and guide him in battle. As Cyber Sub-Zero, his skills were greatly enhanced and is apparently the strongest of the Lin Kuei cyborgs, able to fight off both Goro and Kintaro, two of the strongest Shokan, at once. Cyber Sub-Zero retained his cryomancy powers and could form a large sword made of ice, drop ice bombs from his chest, and cover himself in a sheet of ice, causing anyone who hit him to freeze. He had a teleport move where he separated in a flash of light and reformed behind his opponent.
