Here are a couple of 1970's favorites of mine. good old Grape Ape and Beegle Beagle. to tell you the truth, i still don't understand how they get the pronunciation of Beegle's name, as it actually is pronounced Beegley, but what do i know. Grape Ape of course was also a member of the Yogi Yahooey's on the Laff-a-Lympics and was on several items of merchandise in the 70's and is on my list of characters who were so close to becoming superstars of pop culture, but did not quite make the "forever remembered" cut, now remaining in obscurity. in the future i will post a list of those characters at HB that were really close to becoming what Scooby Doo and Fred Flintstone are, which are timeless popular characters, but could not cut the mustard.
